Please take out my Subscriber's badge

Recommended Posts

Ok, I just subscribed and I miss my old neowin stars. Please revert it back so I may appear as a normal member, but unda cuvah. I want to keep the benefits it brings, I just don't want to look like everyone else... I donated to donate, not to brag.

But we consider Subscribers to be worthy of recognition, for supporting Neowin. Without subscribers, things would be much more difficult for us. It's people like you that are helping to keep this site going, and personally I feel that deserves a badge.

I think it is in the script to show your badge... and there isn't much they can do without locking you out of the certain things, like your blog, or 168.

Be proud to wear that badge, and not your stars

We actually at one point had stars and the badge. But somewhere during the switch to Neowin 5, they were removed

What do the stars mean anyways? Just a representation of post count or what?

So you don't want to draw attention to your subscriber status so you create a threat just to accent the issue?

We did, but I think it wasn't added back in because at the time it did look rediculous (user's had much bigger stars back then). Just leave it as it is now, people who Subscribe deserve recognition which is brought on by the badge.

Yep this screencap I have from 2005 shows a different badge.

But why would you want that? You are special, and elite.

No, you put Subscriber as usergroup 2 and registered as usergroup 1 and then it will display the plain registered stuff to the users but retain all your perks ^.^

I remember there was one or two people around that have that, i'm not sure if they still do.

You have way too much time on your hands, the subscriber badge or the stars means nothing to any normal person, and I don't think Im that interested in impressing the others

Only 1,922 posts?

I don't mind either way if we have the stars or not, to be honest :p

I can understand why you would want your post count to be shown. Anyone can subscribe but someone who has been a chronic poster is someone who is loyal, despite having money to give.

What do the stars actually represent, because I've been on 3 for a long time, then I went on holiday and didn't post for a month but I am still on 3, hence I'm a little confused as to how they are calculated.

PS

I thought they represented average posts/day, correct me if I am wrong.
