Barney T. Administrators Posted August 9, 2008 Administrators Share Posted August 9, 2008 Hi everyone, I wanted to take a moment and bring everyone up to speed on our newest project with Shift Linux. We plan on releasing two new Shift Linux editions: Shift One and Shift Lite. Shift One will be a new DVD edition that will have a choice of Desk Managers and apps that can be installed by the user. It is based off of Ubuntu, and will have packages within the DVD as well as from repositories. It will include new branding and docking apps. Shift Lite is a live CD that will have Fluxbox as its Desk Manager as well as similar apps and programs to Shift One. It is designed for lower spec computers that may have strained resources running Shift One. As we are currently working on each of these editions, we do not have a specific timetable for their release. However, we can probably realistically expect a release in a month or so. Thanks to everyone on the Shift dev staff for helping get this community project up and running! Barney

Seriously, what are the packages to be included? I can seriously advise there. :)

4CxbqFxVnstmA Veteran Posted August 11, 2008 Veteran Share Posted August 11, 2008 Will you be able to install Shift Lite from the live cd? Should do, as generally you can from a live cd. I install Ubuntu from the live cd. Same functionality, I'm sure.
