roadgeek9
I am running CentOS 5 on my Compaq Deskpro EN P550 and for some reason, I can't get my sound card recognized. It is an ESS1869. I have tried modifying /etc/modprobe.conf to see the card, then I rebooted, and I kept getting the same message...

mitch00
Try running alsaconf in a terminal to setup your card.
roadgeek9
Try running alsaconf in a terminal to setup your card. alsaconf isn't included in CentOS. I kept trying the following command (as root)... yum -y install alsaconf But it doesn't exist under any of the included repositories.
mitch00
I don't use CentOS, but it should be included in the alsa-utils package.
