Labyrinth
What I want seems very simple, and absolutely possible, but I cannot find an implementation anywhere! First here is what I want described in text: 100% TRANSPARENT window BACKGROUND, 100% OPAQUE window TEXT Especially for "Notepad" and "My Computer". Here are some images with obnoxious red labeling done in mspaint to explain what I mean: Are you telling me that this is IMPOSSIBLE with Windows XP? Guest
dont you have anything else to worry about? XP was not designed with transparency in mind... so blame glass 2k for its failure to provide transparency.
Labyrinth
dont you have anything else to worry about? Irrelevant. XP was not designed with transparency in mind... The question is how to implement this in XP, not whether or not XP is designed for it (I think we all know the answer to that). so blame glass 2k for its failure to provide transparency. Glass2k is, in my opinion the best of the "garden variety" transparency implementations in XP. I would like to move beyond this though and it should be possible. LiqHead
Dumbest thread ever..... shame shame  Pay for WindowBlinds.
ViperAFK
You'd have to use windowblinds and find a skin that does this. Only way you're going to be able to do this.
Labyrinth
Dumbest thread ever..... shame shame. Pay for WindowBlinds. Windows Blinds cannot do this in XP. If you believe otherwise then prove me wrong. Glad to hear that you helped fund their serious over commercialism though. You'd have to use windowblinds and find a skin that does this. Only way you're going to be able to do this. I disagree. See above. I will find a way.
The_Decryptor Veteran Posted September 4, 2008 Veteran Share Posted September 4, 2008 ...XP was not designed with transparency in mind... so blame glass 2k for its failure to provide transparency. Sure it was, Windows 2000 and up supports layered windows, You can either go the full way and provide a 8bit alpha channel, or set a transparency key and have only that colour render transparent (This method is even simpler and was supported in 9x)
