DeskScapes 2.5 Brings Animated Wallpapers to XP

Recommended Posts

Shortly after the release of Windows Vista last year, Stardock introduced DeskScapes to users of Windows Vista Ultimate which added featured like dynamic .dreams, triggered .dreams, etc. We also launched Dream.WinCustomize.Com which is the official site to find more animated wallpapers (.dreams) for use with DeskScapes. Later, we launched DeskScapes 2.0 which brought the ability for nearly all Vista users to have animated wallpapers on their desktops.

However, the one comment we always get is ?I want to use these on XP?. That was always an issue because Vista had much more resources available to make animated wallpapers more feasible, but with the advancement of video drivers and the technology behind Stardock DeskScapes?..

I?m happy to say to Windows XP users that DeskScapes 2.5 will bring .dreams to your desktop!

But when are you going to release an SDK for 3D dreams, so users with 3DS MAx can make their own dynamic real time 3D dreams.

Then I'd buy deskscapes. even if the upgrade to the 2.0 version screwed over the free users with no warning.

any idea how many and what resources would be taken up by this?

i'd use it for sure if i knew my PCs overall performance wasnt being sacrificed

It's not perfect. Changing dreams crashed my desktop (requiring a reboot), and it incorrectly called my PCIE GeForce 8500 GT an AGP card. Some of the more flashy dreams run rather choppy as well.

VLC as wallpaper with looping runs better.

First thing is to make sure you have the very latest video card drivers. Also, if you are running an AGP card performance is not going to be as great as having a latest generation video card.
