sn00pie
Would using the 2d dock improve graphics performance (like making the genie effect when minimizing smoother)? Nah, it's not that noticeable. If you want to try the 2D dock without any typing codes or etc. download DockDoctor (it's a widget) for OS X, that allows you to switch from 2D to 3D dock and vice-versa 'on the fly'. :D
Insanor
Mine is always visible at the bottom of my screen - I <3 the dock. xD

mrt2
I have mine visible all the time because of color coordination and how well it goes with the themes when I do a new desktop design (see pic). But I really don't use the dock all the much. I use quicksilver for everything... even though there are stacks, moving the mouse down there for stuff takes extra time and I have to move focus away from what I"m doing... I can just hit a quick key combo and quickly activate what I want using quicksilver. Also with the amount of apps I use on a daily basis my dock would be freaking full and waaaay too big if I put them all there so again quicksilver saves the day. I also hate minimizing things to the dock... I have 16 spaces and I use them all. This way I never have to minimize but I always have a clean desktop to work on. TN-Geek
Nope. =) Well, I'm using Windows and Mac and I'm using RocketDock on Windows, set to autohide. And on Mac too. Just looks way better with the interface.
Wannes
auto hide.on a 13" MacBook i need the screen real estate :\ specially considering i don't use the dock all that much. Expos?+Spaces for switching between applications and Spotlight for opening EVERYTHING On my 13" Macbook it's shown at the bottom and I reckon the screen is still big enough... DigitalE
I always wanted to embrace this - it makes the most sense, but I just can't bring myself to have the dock, alongside my CS3 toolboxes - it drives me insane. Do you folks who have your dock anchored left, not find this a big of a bug bare?Mine lives at the bottom... Nice color coordination :)
LTD
I find the Dock reveal is a bit slow. I have mine visible at the bottom. Looks nice.

JEffEd
I sometimes use autohide on my Nano (MSI Wind running 10.5.5 and overclocked to 2GHz) but usually I just leave it visible. I keep it small on the left with a little bit of magnification on it. On the MacBook Pro I keep it always visible on the bottom, with a rounded skin and no magnification. This is of course most preferred.
sn00pie
I finally decided to clean up my dock and put it on the left/right side. I've found a new home on the right side, and pretty much only the icons I use on a daily basis are still on the dock. I guess I could use Spotlight for everything else. I've heard things regarding Quicksilver. How does that exactly work?
Death Proof
nah , prefer to let it be at the bottom, though if i were ever to use OSx on a laptop or anything with a smaller screen , id eith put it on side or hide it .
