The link for the 600 icons isn't working, but if someone wants to upload them to my ftp, then I'll leave the ftp open for a few days for everyone to download them from...

You dont need to convert, Just treat it as a normal icon. When you go to change an icon for a shortcut, point it towards the .icl file and a box will pop up with all the icons in it. Then you just pick the icon you want.

If you really want to seperate them, use a program called Iconshop to export individual icons.

Windows is lame and doesn't show .icl files in the change icon browse dialog box...what a pain when switching out all of your system icons.

If you want to break up an .icl file,

1.) drag it into the Iconshop 1.20 main dialog, [freeware]

2.) hit ctrl+a (select all) and then alt+x 9 (export as)

3.) make certain the file name and extension (.ico) for each icon is correct...you should be able to just hit enter through the entire set...

easy as pie

Uhm, or just move the "Files of Type" dropdown to "All Files"

yeah, and it may just be me, but having to scroll down to the 'show all files' in the drop down is a pain in the butt when you are changing out 20+ icons.

plus when Windows opens an .icl all it shows is a tiny browser window that shows the individual icons at about 16x16 to pick from. LAME.

breaking apart an .icl allows you to browse a set at a glance.
