Statikk
First, I'd like to apologize if this isn't being posted in the correct forum. This is basically a question regarding all those 1 line comments (usually in the news forum) "Only in ........" Usually followed by America but I've seen other country names used. Why is it that these type of posts aren't considered trolling? They don't provide an opinion, or state any useful or truthful information. In my opinion they are used simply to provoke a reaction from the citizens of the named country. I'm not one to respond to such comments but I do find them relatively annoying. I do realize I have the option to ignore any user but this just seems like a blatant attempt at trolling and so I would think comments of this nature would not be tolerated. I'm just looking for an opinion on the matter from the staff and fellow Neowinians as well.
Brandon
because its meaningless banter and doesn't actually stand for anything? *sigh* only on neowin :p

FiB3R
Its just a saying, and mostly said by citizens of said country, so...
maplecookie Veteran Posted September 30, 2008 Veteran Share Posted September 30, 2008 I dislike it and consider it trolling, but it's not like I (or any mod) searches that phrase out. To take action or to at least review it the post should be reported. I think it just screams "I'm here to cause problems and **** members off nyah nyah nyah"...but that's just me. Problems happen in every country, not just one in particular.
Cormier6083
So we can report such an incident? Good, because it gets obnoxious sometimes.
Fred Derf Veteran Posted September 30, 2008 Veteran Share Posted September 30, 2008 They often get reported and they often get removed. So there likely are far more examples that you never had a chance to see.
Statikk
Good to know. I had never seen an official reaction to this particular form of trolling and didn't know if it was something that would be moderated if reported. I'm not one for reporting posts all day in fact you could count the number of times I've done it on one hand in the last 6 years (I think). Just seeing the same thing over and over in news posts everyday had kind of worn on my patience a bit. I'm glad to see that it's discouraged by staff and looked down upon by at least some members.
