MasterSasuke
where to start..... well, most of the applications recommended in this section... BITE! The good ones? Tune-up Utilities Acronis True Image Home CCleaner Avira AntiVir Free (antivirus) Bootvis but... You ppls never even stated the best tweaker. From Michael Zacharius, M.Z. U.T (ultimate tweaker)[for XP], AND M.Z. Vistaforce (obviously for vista) This is a tweaking program above most, and it has a nice u.i. features:U.T. (vistaforce is about the same) Performance tweaks: optimize I/O page limit auto unload unused dll's optimize prefetch for: app launch, boot, or bboth cmos/realtime clock priority boost Optimize MTF L2 cache optimize system tweaks: not many... visual tweaks: auto logon start menu & desktop tweaks and too many more to name It has a startup manager, and a services manager. last, but not least... Registry Optimizer (nothing new, but this one is as good as "ntregopt"'s) it is a very light program, and i hope you try it. how I optimize my comp: well, some of it I do before installing... in Nlite some of it is done by M.Z. and tune-up utilities. some of it is done by me in the control panel. and.... as of 2 days ago... CCleaner has helped. Next on the list... other good apps. Rocketdock(well, i like it) notepad++(very nice) flashget(fast dl manager that can get torrents too) Burnaware Free(light program that can do many things with a disc)[even burns ISO's] I keep many other apps installed, but these were the ones that MAY be worth mentioning. last on the list: a question. how do i get rid of that ie error that pops on my desktop every time i boot that sez "windows cannot display web content saved on your computer while you are offline", and it asks to connect/stay offline any help is appreciated okay... this is all i can pull from the top of my head, but I will post much more later on. btw.... programs not as worth mentioning: Firefox :p VLC Media Player 7-zip codelite nlite Lclock Winzip Edited October 8, 2008 by MasterSasuke
Ricardo Gil
Maybe you could use some text formatting so people could actually read your list without getting eye strain.

MasterSasuke
I like it here, I get replies so quick. well, no, I guess I did not post much of anything useful but... it's windows, there's only so much one can do. Linux on the other hand, I like a little better, but I still can't work without Photoshop, so i keep windows installed anyways[dual-boot]

markwolfe Veteran Posted October 8, 2008 Veteran Share Posted October 8, 2008 Yes, and it pales in comparison.plus, I already paid for PS. You already paid for Windows, too. ;) GIMP is a good product, perfectly suitable for amateur use. Professionals that require CYMK colorspace, GIMP just can't do it; Photoshop is the only answer for that.
BlueFiberOptics
I like Paint.NET. I find it more easy to use than GIMP.
