File access rights with IIS

Question

ok, i'm running IIS 5.1 on an XP Pro system and i'm trying to install invision (and again i'd like to remind you that i'm a n00b). in the install instructions it sais that you have to set some CHMOD settings using an ftp server, i was told that CHMOD is not a windows thing and that i would have to set the access rights through IIS. so, i attempted to do this by opening IIS, navigating to the files i wanted to changes the rights for, right clicking on the file, chosing "properties" and then checking the boxes on the first tab (the "file" tab). this didn't seem to work, when trying to set up the forum i got an error that said "Could not write to 'conf_global.php'". conf_global.php is one of the files that the install instructions tell you to change the CHMOD settings for.

can anyone help? :(

if you find out it is ntfs permissions you're trying to set, come and talk to me, ill be glad to help. otherwise, i've never heard of CHMOD :s

For others.

You have to give your windows IIS user (IUSR_) write permission to those files.

Its easy, but it was difficult for me to figure out. Like Redmak said, u need to set up permissions with IUSR

All u need to do is right click on the file or folder and click sharing and security. Go to the security tab and add the permissions to IUSR_COMPUTERNAME and thats it!

NB You may need to define the user, it may not be there already

BTW This is for a Windows 2003 Server so it may be a bit different
