Skulltrail-old
Whenever I am posting, I must be very careful as to when I press the enter button. I only use it to move down toward the next line but apparently when Neowin feels like it (at random), when I press ENTER it submits the post... I can't seem to fix it other than posting rather slowly. This issue doesn't apply when posting a thread; only when posting a reply.
Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted October 9, 2008 Global Moderator Share Posted October 9, 2008 What browser are you posting from? Sometimes my firefox goes crazy and goes backwards when I hit Backspace. I don't think I've had the Enter problem though.

Well I'm not having the problem at the moment since I got on my desktop; FF would not dare crash on me. ;) But I still have the problem on my TabletPC, where I can only use ****ty Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2... Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted October 9, 2008 Global Moderator Share Posted October 9, 2008 Not too sure what the problem is, but your posts should merge right? I recommend just clicking once and waiting. I haven't seen any threads before about duplicate posts... it must be on your end

Yes I know it is the default shortcut for back 1 page, but it goes crazy when i'm typing a reply... kind of hard to explain that
Skulltrail-old
I usually type rather rapidly and sometimes when I press enter, whatever I typed gets posted (regardless of whether I'm done). I just press enter to move onto a new paragraph or line. <<LIKE THIS>> (^two spaces) I have another quick question, how exactly does the EDIT post feature work? When I edit my posts, sometimes it indicated that I have edited a post (by placing a bolded message at the bottom of the revised post). I'm curious as to when and why this shows up. Is it how long it takes you to edit the post? For example, if I press the EDIT button to fix a quick grammer error (would take me 2 seconds), it wouldn't show? But if I spend 30 seconds revising an entire paragraph, would it show?

There is a place that will answer all of these questions and more, but i'll answer this one here. for future reference, go to Site & Forum Issues > FAQ (located at the top) If a mod is reading this, you may want to consider updating this post about mod positions) The edit feature works differently between each group. I believe the subscribers can always edit their topics, and have an extended time to edit their posts over some "normal" members. Of course admins / mods can always edit every single post at will. Maybe apart from News Staff? For regular members (not subscribers), can edit the topic THEY CREATED. If we post within our own topic, or someone else's, we can edit our post for up to 10-15 minutes. After 2-3 minutes, it will display a message in bold and italic that we have modified our post.
