mandriva 2009

Recommended Posts

i tried mandriva 2009, i like it. alot of configuring that needs to be done though. the syncing with windows mobile phones does work and i was able to get my htc touch synced up fully. i prefer ubuntu though and im wondering why this can't be ported to the new 8.10 version ? if i had that in ubuntu i would fully install it and get rid of windows.

I've used Mandriva on several different computers and they all worked very well. The newer editions seem to work much better, of course. Also, the URPMI method of package management is really pretty good.

Remember that Mandriva is based on Red Hat. I enjoyed it while I used it.......... and later I switched to Debian, but not because I didn't like Mandriva.....

I thought Mandriva was based on Mandrake.

i wonder if i should use this instead of ubuntu, why doesn't ubuntu support full syncing with windows mobile phones ?

look

I've never had problems syncing windows mobile PDAs or phones, the last version (2008 and 2008.1) made it very easy to do. In ubuntu it's easy but needs a bit more configuring - at least I found it easy (plus, when I last did it in ubuntu it wasn't all graphical like Mandriva).

i prefer ubuntu to mandriva, but no i tried sync in ubuntu and it doesn't work well at all. they need to port the apps from mandriva to ubuntu soon to have full sync support.
