Blaine
I really wish the board time was more relevant to me. I like to check out when a post has been made, but when I see the time as 15:43, I do not automatically think of it as 3:43 pm. Thus, I never check the times on posts, but I would really like to. Can't this just be an option in the control panel? I have my board time set to US Central, but the times still show up as military time. :(
Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted October 12, 2008 Global Moderator Share Posted October 12, 2008 You know I never really noticed that before... I know military time, so it was never an issue, but good suggestion (Y)

Many places, and most if not all computers, use it always. https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=458412
gigapixels Veteran Posted October 13, 2008 Veteran Share Posted October 13, 2008 I've gotten used to it, mostly because I've been here for 6 years. Otherwise, I don't see or use it outside of this forum. I wouldn't be against having it, but I don't think it's particularly necessary.
TurboTuna
Funny how people never really use the 24 hour time. I can't do anything in my day without using the 24 hour clock. Computers, phones, laptops, Television. Its everywhere!
]SK[
I think it's only America that use AM/PM on clocks. The rest of the world use 24 hour time format.
Coldgunner
Nope, us UK'rs still use it. I don't care as I can read either without converting it.
Raa
All the computers that have had Windows installed here in Aus that i've looked at are all AM/PM. A few exceptions though. (Trust me, thats more than a thousand computers!!!) :p I think the AM/PM suggestion is great!
Lee G. Veteran Posted October 13, 2008 Veteran Share Posted October 13, 2008 (edited) I use 12H on my watch and computer, but I'm used to 24H (military) time too. I know 12H is widely used in the US, but I guess being English it's hard to imagine how someone could not be familiar with the 24H clock. However, I think having a 12H time option is a good idea - I'd probably use it. Edited October 13, 2008 by lcg
Olemus
I always write in 24hour and set my clocks etc to the same, its less confusing that way :D
kinetix63 Veteran Posted October 14, 2008 Veteran Share Posted October 14, 2008 As far as I am aware, IPB would need to add this option. Otherwise it would involve us writing yet another hack. At the moment, we are trying to avoid writing any more hacks than we have to, because it becomes completely unmanageable every time we have to install an IPB upgrade. Blaine
As far as I am aware, IPB would need to add this option. Otherwise it would involve us writing yet another hack. At the moment, we are trying to avoid writing any more hacks than we have to, because it becomes completely unmanageable every time we have to install an IPB upgrade. I have a stock IPB install and the time is always shown in an AM/PM format. But I guess creating an option for end users would need a hack :( I think in order to show it as an AM/PM format would require that formatting on everybody, unfortunately. Woah... don't make us Americans use math. It hurts. :p Yesss! :D
roadgeek9
I've only been here for 2 years, I haven't had a problem with it, and I use 12-hour time.
mspeak
i have no problem with it - but i think there should be an option for people who would prefer it.
