Marcus16
So they can release a new L4D in a year, but we have to wait longer for the next episode!?
Slammers
I don't understand why does it matter how long it takes them to release it. Sure we all want to play it as soon as possible, but it's their game and they can do whatever the **** they want with it, episodic does not mean it has to come out every 2-6 months (although I believe it is fair to be expected). But seriously those of you complaining, get the **** over it, go play one of the other thousands of great games until it comes out...
Hurmoth
Was Left 4 Dead a non-Valve game before they bought Turtle Rock Studios? So the team that came on board with TRS is probably the same team behind L4D2 which has nothing to do with L4D2. More complaining without fully understanding Valve's side of things. MightyJordan
Good things come to those that wait...And FTR I am still waiting on a new Counter Strike. I bet the Team Fortress fans are saying that, seeing as they waited 11 years. :p If CS follows that timeframe, then hopefully we'll see CS2 next year. The Teej
Half-Life 2 was released in November 2004. Half-Life 2: Episode One, June 2006. And Half-Life 2: Episode Two, October 2007. It's already June 2009 and Valve still hasn't released Half-Life 2: Episode Three. For an episode, it's taking longer than one would expect. It's already approaching 2 years since the release of the last episode. That's longer than it took to release the first episode after the game's original release. I certainly hope it's worth the wait. I think it's just time to come out and say it - they no longer care about Half Life. They care more about churning silly TF2 videos and milking the zombie cow. What could possibly be taking so long? It's absolutely insane. Take your bloody focus off of TF2 and start caring about the needs of the fans that helped you get where you are in the first place. macrosslover
I hope they don't think they can charge $50 for this just because it's taking forever to develop.

No, I think there'd be a bigger outrage about that then there currently is about L4D2.
Hurmoth
I hope they don't think they can charge $50 for this just because it's taking forever to develop. Most likely, whenever it is released, it will be $29.99 by itself or part of The Orange Box 2 at $50 or so. I like the idea that this will be coming out at the same time as L4D2, but I doubt that will happen considering how little we've heard Valve discuss the game so far. Like L4D, there is a separate (and small) team working on TF2 lead by Walker and Cooke (two of the three authors from the original Team Fortress mod). The thing that took the most time with TF2 was having both these guys moved onto other projects (one of which, ironically, was HL2E1).

Miuku.
Gabe Newell says there are “good reasons” Valve won’t talk about Half-Life 2: Ep. 3 "You know, Half Life 2 Episode 3 started as episodic content but we decided to expand on this idea and release it as a full blown game, now called Half Life 2 1/2 CC Edition with a full retail price and of course we'll offer more episodic content for it - naturally at 'low low prices'!" /s

KnightWolf
kinda sucks its been so long since Ep2.... have long forgotten what happened at the end (well, really during the whole game) and dont really feel like going back thru them again. yes it is their game and ill prolly buy it, but not gonna be the same as if it would have come out last year or even this summer... and yeah, gotta say its the same with portal
Andre S. Veteran Posted June 12, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 12, 2009 They'd better take their time and make it something really special. With Episode 2, I thought the series was getting a little bit old. Same recipe, same weapons, same enemies... ok there were a few novelties and the battle scence at the end was nice, but I would hope the conclusion to Half-Life 2 be something more impressive than that. Ok we get it Valve, we can throw explosive barrels at combine marines. Weee.

I'd be happy if they give us the Portal gun. :) My view is that we don't need too much innovation in EP3, we just need to finish the story that has been taking place in HL2/EP1/EP2. Then maybe Valve can start working on bringing us totally new settings with greater innovation, improved/new engine for Half Life 3 (if there is one) and so on... By the way, Valve, hurry the @#$% up.
qdave
I think maybe it's good that they are not releasing any info on it. Such stuff just makes the hype! I'd rather that they would release the game instead of talking about releasing it :p
Crazysah
Well HL:1 and HL:2 were very successful so I wouldn't be surprised if they take long on this one since the first two took a long long time.
Andre
I would eat a hat if Duke Nukem Forever would be released before HL2 EP3. I guess there won't be any hat eating since DNF has been canned. *phew*
