Sebaz Vista
I just installed Vista x64 and Firefox, and the toolbar background shows in that horrible baby blue color that Vista has everywhere. But Firefox in my Vista 32 installation shows the same background in gray. How can I get Firefox to display the toolbar background in gray in Vista 64? This is for the default theme. That bar reads from an image in the msstyles. You either have a different theme applied in x86 or your GPU settings color differ from x86 and x64. Well, in the x86 installation I had the patched msstyles, but then I went back to the original Vista style. What do you mean by GPU settings color? ToneKnee
Only solution is to either, 1) Install a new theme 2) Install a different msstyle or 3) edit the files for the current default Firefox theme and apply a background to whatever colour you want it to be. Solution 1 is the easiest.

Malskazz
You can google into that.. Infact, i think theres a lot of topics already which is about this subject.
cornel001
Ha! I have exactly the same problem. It's aero's default colouring for menubar/toolbar , you can find it in other apps too. I think found a way to change in FF3 but I want it changed globally, from msstyles. But looks like its a waste of time to find exactly how to do it. :(
Malskazz
Oh god stop, its so simple lol.. Its nothing but editing the damn msstyle which you see tons of people have done.. Its not like its hardcoded. 1. Get a resource editor like ResHack, restorator or something alike.. i recommend reshack because it is free.., 2. Open aero.msstyle in the program 3. Find image 641, 648 and 851. and extract them all to desktop or whereever. 4. Edit the pictures to the color of your liking.. I myself made them gray, because it kicks ass. 5. Replace the edited images with the originals in aero.msstyle with the editor program. 6. Save and use! Remember that you need the uxtheme patch (Dont ask me how on that subject! Google it - seriously) and you need to take ownership of aero.msstyle to change it (i think). Good luck
cornel001
Thanks for info, that was I needed. However you made wrong assumptions about we know or should know. I know for a long time how to change themes on my PC (since '98). I was even able to hack some shellstyle. But what I didnt knew always whas what resource to hack from tens or hundreds, to get ONE particular result. I dont know why you think we all was born with this knowledge already. But hey, when I was born, Vista wasnt yet even as concept. Nor I was able to find on the net a very complete tutorial (but I may not searched enough). But before startind hacking (I dont need editing the images, i can 'steal' from other themes), I found another topic here, and there found an aero theme with only menu/tool bars modified. https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?show...#entry589969196 (geoken's link) I'll hack it a bit further and here we go ;)
geoken
Before modding my msstyle, I used a few FF themes to get around the problem. The main one I used was the XP for Vista FF3 theme. It's exactly the same as the Vista theme except the back/forward arrows are green. The theme author seems to have hardcoded the bg for the menu's and tabs.
