Service Pack 3 + Shell32?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if it is possible to get a shell32 that works with service pack 3. I know if you get the wrong shell32 it'll kill your install, so i'm very nervous about it.

Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated

What do you want to modify in shell32?

If you want to change it, just make a copy and reshack it?

I'd like to change the avi's and all. I've seen packs to do it, but I don't wanna screw anything up

Not necessarily. If you have access to use another OS on the same HDD, then you are fine. Just make sure to make a backup of the original Shell32.dll. What I do is just gain owner privileges and then rename it to Shell32.old. To restore, just delete the newer version and rename the original back into a DLL file.

When I "kill" my install, I go into Knoppix or Ubuntu, wander through my HDD, into my Vista OS partition, change the files adequately, restart, boot into Vista. I either boot into Knoppix through my USB or into Ubuntu with my LiveCD. Which ever is closer to me.
