[Ubuntu] Upgrading from Hardy to Intrepid within a VM

Recommended Posts

I'm using Parallels VM on my Mac and I tried to upgrade from Hardy Heron to Interpid Ibex, but it stopped doing anything when it got to "removing obsolete packages" so I switched the VM off and started over.

When I restarted, Ubuntu said that I need to do a Partial Upgrade, but when I try to I get this:

I tried running sudo apt-get upgrade and installed everything...but I still get the same error. Help?

Just curious, but are you trying to upgrade via the repos (which weren't yet populated when I checked this morning), or by upgraded via CD-ROM?

DISCLAIMER: I am not an expert in this by any means, so don't expect a lot. ;)

Via the repos. I'm sure it's on there, it popped up with a bar on the Update Manager telling me to click to upgrade to 8.10. I think the problem is I killed the VM halfway through upgrading :/

I tried running sudo apt-get upgrade and installed everything...

Then the problem might be with the tool used to make the upgrade. Try closing it and removing its configuration file (back it up first in case something would get broken).

...and:

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
