chicken-royal
Hey, just installed Ubuntu 8.10 on a new partition along with XP Home. Ubuntu boots up fine, whether I set that to the default or not. XP was booting up fine when I had Ubuntu as the default, and it did before when I had XP as the default OS to boot into to, but for some reason it's not getting any further than the boot/logo screen. I used the StartUp-Manager in Ubuntu to set XP as the default OS. Any help on how to get XP to load again? Thanks in advance! Lechio
The grub menu.list file looks OK. but for some reason it's not getting any further than the boot/logo screen If grub calls the OS from it's partition and it loads OK then the boot loader has finished his job there. Maybe it's a problem with Windows. Have you tried pressing F8 right after it loads, so you would have access to the option of booting it into safemode? chicken-royal
I'll try booting into safe mode now, but I have been using XP since I installed Ubuntu and set XP as the default OS (I swapped to XP and played TF2 for a few hours). Anyway, I'll go try safe mode and see what happens. Thanks for the help so far. :) Edit 1: Shut down Ubuntu, turned computer back on, didn't touch anything, XP loaded fine. Going to try booting Ubuntu and restarting computer and letting it try to boot XP (that's what I was doing last night). It shouldn't make a difference... chicken-royal
Okay, booting into Ubuntu, then restarting and letting it boot into XP seems to be working fine now. It definitely wasn't last night when I posted this (I tried getting it to boot to XP 3 or 4 times before posting!). Thanks again. :) (Sorry for double post, can't edit the one above any more)
