It lives up as the first direct seuqel in the Bond series and does a very good job. I found this movie very entertaining and worth the money. M and Bond (Judi and Craig) were great, definitely the best of the movie. But it felt a lot different than casino royale, and it was short, and the finale was kind of a letdown. but overall it is a good movie. I didnt like the part in the first half hour or so they change locations every 5 seconds, while they spent the rest of the movie in bolivia. dont ask me why lol. and the bond girls... hot, but the characters were meh. still, a good movie :p Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
houlty Posted November 12, 2008 Share Posted November 12, 2008 total disappointment. the style was missing. i agree. i saw it yesterday and whilst my attention was kept throughout, i wasn't completely fixated on the screen or the story. it just lacked that edge. it just seemed to flip from one location/action piece to another without any real fluidity, all because of a weak story. Yes it had some good parts as all movies usually, but the Plot which I find makes the movie (and I doubt I'm alone) was just not there. Very loose, by the end of the movie your like "??? WTF???" I could maybe pull it off in my mind as a shiitty prequel to the next one. It was like his search for info on what he just learned about at the end of CR. AND WE STILL ARE LEFT IN THE DARK AT THE END!!!! I must say I am sadly disappointed, I will be seeing it In theatre's since the quality of the torrent wasn't that great. It got no style, no little humor, no more Q the gadget guy, .... Even the tie with the Bond "girl" is not what is used to be. I guess I don't like this reboot. I was under the impression that this movie was going to be all about resolving the Vespyr plot from CR, hence why they left it open at the end of CR. They did that, and that's what seemed to be the relevant plotline at the end of the movie, but it was really only about 15 minutes of this movie that focused on that. The other 85 minutes was this Quantum thing that almost seems to be setting up for another movie, even though it pretended to be a relevant plotline to this movie. Basically they could've resolved the Vespyr thing by adding another 15 minutes to CR and then made a much better storyline for this movie. Also, the director needs to cut the hell back on switching camera angles during action scenes. It was hard to tell what the hell was going on in a lot of them because you'd get about 30 different angles in a minute long action sequence (/exaggeration). Great movie though. More action than Casino Royale, but if I was in the same position as Bond, I think I would of done the same thing he does in this movie. He's a lot more cocky than suave and if you oh so desperately need that then you have 20 Bond films you can re watch as many times as you like. The plot seemed a little left out just because I can tell they were making the focus Quantum and their agenda. Maybe if M and Bond revealed a little more at the end about what was going on instead of "So do you know?" "Yeah." "Alright, goodbye." then I would have been a little more satisfied. The intro was awesome contrary to what everyone else says. I guess I have to agree with one thing, there wasn't enough to make it a classic Bond film. I've been reading a lot of negative reviews, and I think QoS is suffering from Casino Royale success. I find most Bond movies are good but not great, and I think that's what gives the series it's staying power. Casino Royale on the other hand was a great movie, and raised our exceptions for the future. QoS is a typical Bond movie in story quality terms. I too think I was just expecting more after the last one, that was a really good film, and now this one was just, another typical bond film really. I give it 7 outta 10. Ehh, really leaning closer to 6 too, cause while the action was good, the storyline actually wasn't that great and i found the ending kinda weak. It didn't feel like a Bond movie at all.. just A man after someone throughout the whole movie. My ears bled at the start when the Bond Opening theme started... They should of used Duffy's Song. The action and acting is top notch, the directing is awesome, but the storyline is really weak.
