Bazenga
Well, the topic says it all. Is it possible to put a refresh button to it? Just like the one found on the main page of neowin. It's a very helpful area when I visit the forums, but it's irritating to click on forums each time I want to refresh it. Thanks.
Rudy
i usually just refresh the page but it would be neat if there was (and would save on bandwidth)
crazzyyfool
I thought the "Latest Forum Activity" bit of the forums supported dynamic updating? I've always seen it update on it's own without me having to refresh.

I've always seen it update on it's own without me having to refresh. I just stared at it for like 80 seconds, and the refresh didn't happen. Even if there is a refresh interval, it's better to give the user the ability to refresh it at will.

It wont if it says "Paused" in the title bar, click "Start" if it shows "Stopped" It also stops if your mouse cursor is over that area.

Mercellus
I have noticed this also on Internet Explorer 7, Firefox, and Safari that the front page forum activity doesn't update on its own anymore.
Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted November 10, 2008 Global Moderator Share Posted November 10, 2008 I have noticed this also on Internet Explorer 7, Firefox, and Safari that the front page forum activity doesn't update on its own anymore. That was a design change to prevent bandwidth going to waste. many people would sit idle on the front page / forum, watching the latest forum activity roll by. So now it is on a reload basis. Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted November 10, 2008 Global Moderator Share Posted November 10, 2008 Not quite - it was changed for a number of reasons. Here's my post on the matter. Okay, so there was a couple of things. I agree with #1, it happened to me, but that was changed. #2, there isn't a button to refresh the latest forum activity The last I heard was to change from it being active reload, to manual reload, was to cut back on bandwidth. Guess I was mistaken. Thanks for clearing it up Rob
