jm001
Its not a hardware issue. I have the same issue with my X30 and Xubuntu 8.10. Graphics worked fine in 8.04 with the upgrade to 8.10 I now have the firefox corruption issue. looks like black blocks over some letters in firefox. spirit59fr
Hi folks, Glad to have found you ! Have been looking for people who've encountered the same problem as I have, and to no avail so far. So, I do confirm the bug. I also have a thinkpad X30 and Have had the same problem. I do confirm that it is firefox related, although I've no idea if this is only a firefox problem. What I don't understand is how firefox can not only have display problems with a new version (yet is it the nw version of firefox (3) that is the cause, or the new version of Ubuntu (Intrepid) ?), but can also cause overall display problem in gnome... That would mean that something in firefox now triggers something that has an overall display problem. I'm a real noob, yet there is something there that doesn't sound quite logical there. I lack knowledge in xserver and graphic cards specs. For the time being, having found no concrete answer, I cheat and adapt by shifting from firefox to Opera (which s a little bit puzzling, but opera's not bad). Still I'd like to have this issue solved. Have you had any clues from other forums, launchpad, ... ? I read somewhere it could be due to a memory leak... Once again, it doesn't mean much to me. What do you reckon ? Hope to hear from you all soon.

Could you please have a looked and see if you'd checked the radio button in : System → Preferences → Appearance → Fonts → Subpixel smoothing (LCD) instead of the default 'Best rendering'. I had, and shifted back to 'Best rendering' mode. It did the trick. So far, I haven't had any problem with the display. It might have something to do with the rendering mode. Might be a could idea to go through these modes anf the 'Details...' page thouroughly to find what's best for our thinkpad X30 ? Please give your feedbacks...
