Osprey
Have you played any 1st-person shooters recently, like in the last few months? If not, then perhaps you just need to get re-accustomed. Try playing some more and see if the symptoms lessen. Other things to try: * Don't play when you're tired, stressed, in a bad mood or bored out of your mind. States like those make it easier for a 1st-person shooter to tip you over the edge. * Eat something before playing, if you're hungry. * If you're playing at night in the dark, try turning the lights on. If you're presently getting sick with the lights on, try turning the lights off. * Take a headache pill beforehand and sip something caffeinated while playing (just don't drink too much, since a stomach full of liquid can contribute to nausea). * Ginger is good for nausea, so you could try consuming anything with ginger in it, like ginger tea, ginger snaps, ginger beer, ginger tablets, etc.
General Disarray
can you adjust the point of view in the game?
ScorpioRGc1
FC2's FOV setting is pretty screwed up by default, particularly for widescreen users. If you're on the PC, there's a solution on Widescreen Gaming Forums. Discussion Thread: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum...61690dadbe96bcd Download tool: http://wsgfmedia.com/uploads/paddywak/scre...ry2/fc2FOV3.zip FC2 was the first game ever that left me feeling a bit off; this fix helped immensely. CaptainSlow
I started getting motion sickness after i started playing Call of Duty 4 (Oddly enough the only game i get it on), whenever it got to a certain point i would just come off the game and leave the computer for a bit. However as i've played it more and more the effects don;t seem to bother me as much (i used to only last a round, now i can last a couple before feeling any effects). LightIdea
My partner can't stay in the same room when I'm playing Guitar Hero. She finds that the notes and animations and stuff makes her eyes go funny.
Napalm Frog
My partner can't stay in the same room when I'm playing Guitar Hero. She finds that the notes and animations and stuff makes her eyes go funny. Have you ever tried looking at the wall or a flat surface after playing GH for a while? Everything goes wavy, lol. As for shooters, I am now getting the same problem with some games, especially the ones with a low FOV. It doesn't help that I don't play games anywhere near the amount that I used to. However, I do know that TF2 doesn't do anything to me, as well as the majority of the Source games (aside from the stupid vehicle sequences in HL2). As for the games that give me the worst headache, the original Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, etc. As for my sister, she gets dizzy even looking at a person play a shooter longer than a few seconds. Nicholas-c Veteran Posted November 13, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted November 13, 2008 I'm playing FPS's like TF2 all the time so its not getting used to it, its just FC2 FC2's FOV setting is pretty screwed up by default, particularly for widescreen users. Strange, my uncle was saying today that he felt "ill" after playing too, ubisoft announcing war on the world ? :p Poor coding for 16:10 users i take it? (Wouldn't widescreen be target audience ?) ScorpioRGc1
My partner can't stay in the same room when I'm playing Guitar Hero. She finds that the notes and animations and stuff makes her eyes go funny. I never had that problem. FC2 was the first and only game to mess with me that badly...and that's after 20+ years of gaming!
Razorwing
I've had it once. It was when I went over to my friend's to try out Metriod Prime on the Wii. A few mins of playing the game, I had to stop. It was interesting because my friend who was also watching me play had a bad headache aswell. Only problem I had was adjusting to playing Metroid in first person; once I did I found it freakin' epic. :D But I can see how it might make a few people ill; it was a pretty unique FPS... The Gunslinger
Only a handfull of games ever gave me motion sickness, and I've played a LOT. Half life 2 was the one that gave me the worst motion sickness, literally had to lie down after two or three hours. Dead Space is also giving me motion sickness now. Strange thing is, I only experienced this after switching to a wide screen monitor. Think it is the wide screen display that adds to it...
Xerxes
Don't know about motion sickness, but I know of one game that has the potential to cause vertigo! Mirror's Edge! (yeah I know it's not technically a PC game, but it is coming to PC though...). Back to PC gaming, never really had anything like that happen to me. Just gotten a few bad headaches when I was playing games when I was too tired :p but other then that, nothing really.

McSmiggins
Used to get it a lot, now only in "Zero Gravity" sections (Crysis, I'm looking at you) I find it's mainly due to the movement not tallying at all with real life. People have posted some good suggestions (esp FOV). The other things I'd mention are ensure you're getting a good FPS (turn the settings down if you have to) and remember to blink (I know it sounds strange, but it keeps you from completely focusing on the game). BlackSteyrAug
Happens a lot to me when I play Counter-Strike: Source for long periods of time. It'll be interesting at the LAN Party I'm attending this weekend. :x
DarkyDan
There is a game called Call of Cthulu by Bethesda.. that has some pretty warpy effects and bluriness thats supposed to simulate FRIGHT.. It works quite well, sometimes too well :p
Smigit
Well it's not only me with Far Cry 2...that game makes me really ill in no time at all. I've only played it three times so far but I'll need to do something to fix it otherwise I won't be playing it any more. I'll look into the FOV stuff maybe and see what can be done. ienhz
Half Life and Half Life 2 are quite bad for me too. Oddly, CS, TF2, DOD, L4D are completely fine for me though.
Smigit
wouldn't be the fact they were so horribly pixelated and the walking animation really over emphasised the head bobbing. I know those two factors make me sick while playing doom.
shihchiun
yep. I still can't play Half-Life 2 to this very day. :x Yeah, I got it pretty bad with HL2. Had it a bit with Fallout 3, but that went away.
