Blackhearted
It wasn't just a random thing. I just got the exact same warning for the exact same thing in another thread. And it does recur if i do a hard refresh(ctrl-f5). http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g143/Noobnugget/virus.jpg
Denis W. Veteran Posted November 17, 2008 Veteran Share Posted November 17, 2008 The ad-hosting servers must be under attack. Seems like this isn't thread specific.
Panacik
It happens from time to time. Its out of Neowins controll really, unless they find out quickly which ad is causing the issue and remove it. But in most cases the ad company will fix it before Neowin has a chance. It gets noticed because Neowin has a large user base. It can result in Neowin recieveing a poor website safety rating in some antivirus software etc though, which causes a headache, because they need to go and contact those providers to have their rating decreased again :(
The_Decryptor Veteran Posted November 17, 2008 Veteran Share Posted November 17, 2008 I'm assuming it's a false positive from Avast, 10 minutes or so after Avast updated here, there was talk of it in the IRC room.
CPressland
Seams like only Avast is reporting the issue though... I've never seen this on any of my other machines, but then i'm normally on Mac or Linux. I'll post up if i see anything with AVG
