Windows Ultimate Tweaker

Recommended Posts

Just saw this was available over at The WinVista Club.

My favorite feature so far is the UAC prompt option, I can set it to "Elevate without Prompting" for Admin accounts. There is another one that enables "Support for 4GB or more of memory on x86", I wonder how well that actually works.

this work on x64?

Ultimate Windows Tweaker is a Tweak UI Utility for tweaking and optimizing Windows Vista, 32-bit & 64-bit. It can simply be downloaded and used as a portable application to customize your Windows Vista to meet your requirements. With judicious tweaking, It can make your system faster, more stable, and more secure with just a few mouse clicks. The tweaker detects whether you have IE 7 or IE 8 installed and accordingly offers you the relevant tweaks only.

so nvm.

I see you found your answer. I am running Ultimate 64 bit and I did receive an error while applying changes using the tool. The tool still worked fine even though I got the error below. So if you see that error, it does still work. It did for me at least.

Could someone determine if this actually works? I'd understand if it could handle a maximum of 4GB of RAM but I greatly doubt any x86 operating system can handle over that.

x86 OSes are designed to have a maximum of 4GB of RAM whereas processors can handle anywhere from 1MB to 128GB of RAM. (depends on the CPU)

It worked great for me on Vista Ultimate x32 with 3GB of ram. I don't know about that option to run 4MB with an X32 OS. I was told that 4GB of mem will not hurt a x32bit version of windows but the system will only recognize 3GB. This tweak may fix that I don't know. I would be skeptical of using it on that. I would also be skeptical using it on an X64 version if you get that error.

I think the "Support for 4Gb or more of RAM on x86" is actually just applying this workaround.
This problem occurs because the address space is limited to 4 GB in a 32-bit hardware environment. Memory may be relocated to make room for addresses that the basic input/output system (BIOS) reserves for hardware. However, because of this limitation, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Server 2008 cannot access memory that is relocated above the 4 GB boundary.

Yes but it just is a visual thing to show the amt of ram. The x32 machine will still not utilize it. So the tweak is useless.

Hm, I may or may not have a use for this... shall see...

Nope, not found a use for this. The "best" tweaks on here, I already have made myself...

However, for someone who doesn't know their way around the registry may find this useful :)
