AimLXJ
Just curious, will they replace my Xbox 360 or refurbish it? Because I really want the HDMI, new core, and a quieter DVD drive :/
Sikh
Well to answer your question, I sent in my xbox rougly 3 weeks ago, and it was custom painted. So i requested the same 360 back. I also left a note in there for the tech, but never knew he woudl look at it until I got a call. Apprently they replaced my whole mobo and dvd drive and I can tell becuase its quieter, also I pryed off the bottom food(the one you put it vertically standing on) and saw the new heatsink and everything. Also before that I pushed up a camera against it and did that trick and it worked. So all in all if you just leave a note and say "i would like a new 360 becuase this one rrod "twice" now and I would like to make sure when you guys send me one back, it doesnt rrod" then I gurrantee you, you will get a new one. I opted out of that and got my old one back, but with upgraded internals. You on the otherhand have a simple white one so you dont care if you get another one back. ckempo
I'm going to crash this thread to say I've just had my 3rd RROD in 18 months. Surely I should get an entirely new box now? I hope so, I'm buying a new HD TV next week and the plan was for the 360 to go on it... a newer box with HDMI wouldn't go amiss. Am going to phone them in the morning, too furious to do it now without ripping the head off the person on the end of the phone. What's the most RRODs people have had on a single box? And anyone know how long repairs are taking nowadays? Edited November 24, 2008 by ckempo
NoLiMiT06
I had one on my old box and they sent it back but then my disc drive started making grinding noises so they just replaced it with a 'new' console. Basically just new internals but no HDMI so dont get your hopes up for that. Usually in the us its about a week and a half total time. Not sure about the UK. You can also get this to convert your xbox to HDMI http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2007/12/20/ma...-90-next-month/ Heard it's really good and it's $

ckempo
i hope the replacement has HDMI, is that a possibility? Mine didn't. Non-HDMI went, and the same style came back (although it has a manufactured date of Oct this year  )
Brad.
Mine went today <many explicit words here>. Tried ringing Microsoft but I always here a beeping noise on the other end of the line, any ideas why? It's not an engaged ''beep''.

I've spoken to MS today about getting a transfer kit for the 60GB drive. That beep was there for me too; I just held - for ages - and eventually was connected to an advisor. Call them back! WelshBluebird
Lol I'm on hold with techno music :D**EDIT** Could of sworn I read something about the 3 year warranty being expired after NXE....well repair is free for me BUT I have to provide my own shipping box which I have none  The thing bout the 3 year warranty expiring was only for launch consoles. As NXE was released around 3 years after its launch, people who bought it on launch would see their warranties run out around the same time as the NXE. Just down to timing thats all. And from my own experience, and reading other people's, if you send in a non HDMI machine, you will get a non HDMI one back sadly.
