JoeyF
I just found out that my father canceled our satellite in favor of a better deal he was offered from the local cable company (Charter). He owns his Tivo, but the problem is that mine was leased from DTV, and I don't want to pay $20 a month for Tivo service. I'm thinking I'll just build a new computer running either MythTV or Freevo. I want to be able to record two streams at once. What would be the some ideal specs for a system like that (nothing too pricey)? I'm hoping to be able to record somewhere around 60-80 hours worth of SD content. Also, is there any issue with using Charter and one of these DVR programs? And which one is better? gnuman
I think you would need 2 TV Tuners to record 2 different streams IIRC. There is Mythbuntu (Ubuntu+Myth) and MythDora which is Myth+ Fedora. A dual core and 2 gb of memory should be fine but you want to remember to get big HDs for stoarge purposes.
