im on Neon genesis episode 8 now, and i cant blame anyone for not liking it.

it dosnt seem attention grabbing or anything, but 8 episodes in and theres a bit of interest growing. seems there spending a long time character building first.

Prepare to get extremely frustrated or amazed by the last 3-4 episodes.

not even a top 10 or 5 list?

I think you already watched all the anime I rated 9+. Anything I rated 9+ are a must watch. If you want t delve deeper, anything 8+ is good to go.

The top anime series are not exactly my favorites (which you can find on my MAL page) but they're definitely a must watch for any anime fan. If you want me to define the top 10 anime series in no particular order:

1) Cowbop Bebop

2) Ghost in the Shell

3) Mushi-shi

4) {Insert a must watch Gundam series such as Zeta Gundam}

5) {Insert Studio Ghibli movie: Grave of the Fireflies, Howl's moving castle, Spirited Away, Nausicaa of the Wind of the Valley, etc.}

6) Great Teacher Onizuka

7) Neon Genesis Evangelion or Akira or RahXephon

8) The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

9) Code Geass (basically defines what the popular anime in 2007 and beyond are like)

10) Monster

My Favorites (no particular order):

1) Kare Kano

2) RahXephon

3) Ghost in the Shell series (movies incuded)

4) Full Metal Panic series (all three seasons)

Sora no Manimani is probably my favourite anime for summer so far. Nice use of astronomy, all the characters have their own unique quirkiness which is awesome and the comedy is spot on :laugh:

Radish?

I also asked if "Over Drive" was a recommendation, but haven't gotten a reply about it from anyone..

Don't be a numpty, watch it :p

Oh and thanks for the recommendation for the song on Twitter! :)

so im not missing anything major other than some form of Gundam...

^You're comparing all that with Gundam, or did you really mean that those anime aren't major? Ghost In The Shell, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Akira and RahXephon are a lot more then Gundam. They aren't even anything like it. You should atleast watch Akira and Ghost In The Shell, both animes where groundbreaking material at the time. NGE is also a must see, but you just have to like the "emotion" side of such animes. If you don't, then forget about it :)

@Radish™: My pleasure. I take it that you like the song? I'm really digging HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR lately. They're really great :) And I'll check "Over Drive" out ;)

Yep, it's a nice song indeed. I'm just racking up the plays with Stereopony at the momen:p:p

no i've seen all them just one or two missing...

@maskedforever: Saw my post? :p

My bad, Capric0rn.

Yes, it's a definite must watch. It's one of the best sports anime series I've ever watched that are not dated. I looked at Prince of Tennis but it's just fluffy high school drama with Dragon Ball mixed into its tennis games while Over Drive shows how much passion one can have even when everyone thinks the main guy is a loser.

It hits me personally and even is part of my inspiration to keep to my training to become a triathlete even though I never was considered the best in athletics when I was in high school.

I hope that's a good enough recommendation. :p

Pretty much. You've technically seen more anime than I have too so I'm sure you're more familiar with how many anime series don't seem that unique.

If you like Bleach, then you might Yu Yu Hakusho. It's one of my all time favorite action anime. Anything that happened in Bleach has already been covered in Yu Yu Hakusho. The extreme enemies, the tournament style combat, the romance, the drama, the training of spirit energy... It's all there.

Hehe, thanks. I've never seen any sports anime so it'll be my first time. Now, you forgot the other post about "Soukyuu no Fafner" :p

Ah, Gomen... >_> Multitasking while posting isn't good at all...

All I can say about Fafner is that it's probably the most emo mecha series I've ever laid my eyes upon. I couldn't survive past the first three episodes. HOWEVER, if you love Gundam SEED or Gundam 00, then this is right up your alley.

By the way, awesome sketch in your sig. 'Tis impressive.

@maskedforever: It's drawn by Togusa :p About Fafner, I've watch the first 2 episodes 3 months ago I believe. I haven't gone past those because to me it was way to much like NGE and RahXephon, which is the reason why I'm not going to finish watching it.

I'm also wondering where FMA:B 21 stays.

I would have been more than glad to watch Fafner if it was like NGE or RahXephon. Fafner is the combination of Gundam SEED and Dragonaut:The Resonance (which was so terrible that words can't describe it).

Storywise, the way everything began, was way to much like NGE and RahXephon which makes it a terrible anime. It didn't remind me off Gundam SEED at all. Gundam SEED began like the original Gundam series. Both NGE and RahXephon had an original start compared to SEED. To me, Fafner almost looked like a direct copy of NGE and RahXephon, but with different art and such.

new bleach 234 is out. will watch in an hour. Another great episode. Just gets crazier and crazier.

Was there not a FMA:B episode this weekend? I can't find one anywhere and I don't recall seeing anything about there not being one?

Ya, no go on FMA this week i believe.

    • Proton releases Proton Drive CLI for Windows, Mac, and Linux by David Uzondu Image via Proton The team at Proton has released a command-line interface for Proton Drive to let users manage their encrypted files directly from a terminal across all major platforms: Windows, macOS, and Linux. The CLI supports the usual filesystem tasks like listing directories, moving files to the trash, downloading remote folders, handling invitations, and exporting these outputs with the --json flag to pass structured data directly into automated deployment scripts or run scheduled backups through cron. Here are some commands you can run with Proton Drive CLI: proton-drive auth login starts authentication through your browser. proton-drive filesystem upload ./reports/* /my-files/Reports --conflict-strategy skip uploads local documents while skipping files that already exist on the server. proton-drive sharing status /my-files/Reports checks the sharing status and permissions of a folder. proton-drive sharing invite --user [email protected] --role editor --message "Please review reports" /my-files/Reports invites a collaborator to a shared folder with editor access and a custom message. Proton said that in the future, the CLI will gain support for managing photos, sharing files and folders via secure public links, creating custom albums, and switching between multiple accounts. To install the tool on macOS and Linux, you download the pre-built binary and make it executable by running chmod +x proton-drive in your terminal. The operating system stores your active login session securely using native tools like macOS Keychain or Windows Credential Manager. Alternatively, those who prefer building the program from source can clone the repo, install dependencies using Bun, test the build, and compile the TypeScript code directly. The new CLI lands just days after Proton announced that it had completely rebuilt Drive's engine from scratch to make the cloud storage "3x faster on all platforms." This performance jump comes from a unified Drive SDK that replaces legacy platform-specific codebases and executes cryptographic tasks four times faster to reduce battery drain and heat generation on mobile devices. This shared engine also allows Lumo, Proton's AI assistant, to read and process drive files without breaking the system's end-to-end encryption protocols.
    • But that uses the same engine as Chrome and Edge, so at some point will have the same issues.
    • I use Zen, because it has not AI rubbish or other stuff I don't need. It is not perfect and does have some issues, but it is fine for the most part. Getting used to the vertical tabs may take a bit of doing. Took me a while, but I think vertical tabs are great now.
