I watched the 2nd rebuild of Evangelion movie today and it is AMAZING!

After watching it though, I think that to truly enjoy the rebuild movies (at least so far), the original series should be watched first. Noticing the changes to certain parts of the story compared to the original show have made me appreciate the films so much more.

^I agree with you on that one. To see them making NGE into a better story is great to watch :D Specially if one can see the changes. Plus the visuals are of a whole different level as well :)

I could be wrong, but I thought these fights are what show us their bankais. Hard to say, but wiki says it is still unknown as well... bleach needs to clear this up for me or us :p

I figure they would make it a little more clear that it was their bankai and have a different form too since those were the same as their shikai forms.

In One Piece when they say english words it's hilariously cool.

Haha, I get that when they talk Dutch in Samurai Champloo :p There are no accents but the way they talk Dutch is just odd/funny.

I've been wanting to re-watch school rumble... But the quality isn't so good. It was nice when I had a 1024x768 display, but it just can't look good at 1080p...

I'm thinking of finding the highest quality releases I can find and try to "remaster" them. I have the funimation DVDs but they look worse than the ones that can be found online. Stretching to widescreen doesn't look too bad. It's just all the pixels...

If I could work some photoshop magic on them, it would be much more tolerable. Unfortunately Sony Vegas is an idiot and has trouble opening 80% of all known videos formats / codecs known to man, lol.

Also, even if I convert an MKV into something else and "remaster" it, I don't know how to choose which audio stays or how to re-attach the subtitles to my remastered versions, etc.

Complicated...

I want HD School Rumble...

Or even easier, is there something which applies video effects / filters in real-time besides the mostly useless ones that come with media player classic?

the best you're going to get atm is the R2 DVD rips.

Thanks... I've read that before and tried it, but the FFDshow really screwed up my windows install somehow. I had to reformat. I couldn't watch anything in Media Player, I couldn't use my webcam, I couldn't capture video from my camera, etc... lol.

Didn't FFDshow stop production in 2004?

If someone can point me in the direction of a stable x64 FFDshow, I wouldn't mind trying it again.

Never heard of FFDShow screwing up a Windows install, a case of PEBKAC?

Not on x64 myself but there are builds here - http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow-tryout/files/

Do a system restore point before installing :p

I installed that along with the CCCP. It helped with some problems I was having with MPC and it gave me better audio, but now my subtitles are jacked up and the quality doesn't look as good as it used to, even after enabling desktop/1920x1080 in subtitle resolution. It won't change...

Just finished watching "Eve no Jikan" or "Time of Eve".

if you havn't watched it go do so.

its only 6 episodes long and each episode is 15 minutes long, so its pretty short, but its really good.

Its a story in the 'near-ish' future where androids are very common and deals with the three laws of robotics and such.

And there's a couple hilarious scenes.

One of my favorite anime!

Yesterday I rewatched Vexille but this time at 1080p. Each time I rewatch an anime and go from low res to 1080p, it feels as if I'm watching it for the first time. Vexille definitely is a recommendation if you like stories about robotics, cyberation, androids etc.

Also, @Kondrath: Can't believe that RadishTM didn't reply to you with his own blog post: Upconverting DVD?s. As you've said you got the DVD's, you might want to give this a try while you're at it :)

    • When you're in enterprise IT environment, you're kinda forced into it...otherwise I'm not touching any mail client for personal use.  I can't stand New Outlook. It's complete trash - half the features I need in (Classic) Outlook are just missing in New Outlook. I haven't talked to a single person who actually likes the new client.
    • I think it's cute that Apple is implementing their tools at precisely the same evolutionary level as other devices' tools. In other words, I see no innovation; it's "the same but different." "Hey Siri, help me write this document about shoes." Powered by Google. "Sure thing, while we're here, can I interest you on some Nike's? They're on sale at Target right now!"
    • Walmart was still selling the Apple Watch SE 2 on Black Friday in 2024. I got 1 for my mom and one for my dad for christmas.
