Marshalus Veteran Posted November 27, 2008 Veteran Share Posted November 27, 2008 Anyone download it yet? The IGN review I just read said it was pretty good and I was a huge fan of the original, even had it for my Sega Genesis. Is it worth it?
Coldgunner
I didn't like it, doesn't feel the same to me :(
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted November 27, 2008 Veteran Share Posted November 27, 2008 Anyone download it yet? The IGN review I just read said it was pretty good and I was a huge fan of the original, even had it for my Sega Genesis. Is it worth it? Yup I download it last night. Definitely worth the money imo. The new sprites look awesome. I've yet to try the multiplayer, but I have heard there was connection issues. I'm not sure if that was the 360 version or PS3 or both. There is plenty of challenge and it's not over the top like SF2 Hyper Fighting was on XBLA, which imo ruined that game.
Pheee
I will be purchasing this soon. Will try demo first tho, but I am sure I will spend the money.

Marshalus Veteran Posted November 27, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted November 27, 2008 Yeah, just saw there was a demo. Started downloading it. Wife and I have been hooked on retro games this last week. Tis the season to feel young again ;)
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted November 27, 2008 Veteran Share Posted November 27, 2008 Just as well your wife is a gamer, because the demo is local multiplayer only! So you'll have someone to play against!
Marshalus Veteran Posted November 27, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted November 27, 2008 I wouldn't call her a gamer, by any stretch. She does enjoy playing Super Mario Bro though :)

azz0r_wugg
I bought it, remembering my childhood, and then realised I should have gone with Castle Crashers instead :( I wish Arcade had a 24hour return policy.

Lqv2015
I just tried the demo & will probably buy it tonight. Lovin' it. Problem. The official X-Box controller is a bit big for my hand & the game itself. Are there any good smaller controller out there? I've looked but so far come up empty. sciguy007
i was a huge fan of the original too, so i knew i was buying it before it even came out. decent reviews were sort of a bonus because even if they were bad, i probably still would have picked it up. it has a lot of single player replay value for me and i became much better after playing online multiplayer a bunch. the only downside is the garbage d-pad on the xbox controller, but it doesn't bother me much. RangerLG
I bought it, but man is it tough getting back into it. I use Guile and when I try to charge the Sonic Boom, it always made me jump up and back. Not sure if I prefer the thumbstick or the D-pad better. Lezard
Game is incredibly fun online, but it is hard to get used to controller... what a mouthfull that game name is
LingeringSoul
I gave it about twenty minutes of playtime today, but from my first impressions, it's definitely worth the money. I'm using a Hori Arcade Stick (the VF5 one), and it works very well for this game. The quarter circles are certainly much easier on the stick than on the XBox 360 Controller. Looking forward to playing some more, as I'm glad I finally have a game that justifies the arcade stick I purchased over four months ago.
