Lost and Damned soundtrack puts emphasis on death metal, Statik Selektah

By Nathan Grayson

As seen on MTV, Rockstar?s $20 GTA IV expansion is adding at least $20 worth of family-wrecking devil music. Maybe even enough to wreck two or three families, if you?re lucky.

Radio stations Liberty City Hardcore (death metal), The Beat (hip-hop), Radio Broker (indie), and Liberty Rock Radio (take a guess) will all add new songs to their rotations, while The Beat and LCH will also employ new DJs in these Tough Economic Times, those generous souls.

Rockstar?s still keeping the full list of new tracks under wraps, but we?ll make sure to let you know the magic eight-ball stops reading ?Ask again later.?

Hardcore stands for a lot of things in music. It's not just a punk subgenre. :p

It just makes it easier for the general public to discern what type of music it will be before it comes on.

So why tell the general public its death metal when it clearly isnt?

More songs would be good. I was really disappointed in GTA4's soundtrack. The song selection was limited and it seems like a lot of the playlists were put together by someone that doesn't listen to the genre.

Even the talk radio felt like it was missing something. And that was always the one thing I could count on for being amusing.

The soundtrack to me felt like it was put together by John Cusack's character in High Fidelity. A bit to audiophile for me. :p

Apparently, I **** you not, Max Cavalera is doing a DJ spot on LC Hardcore in L&TD. I've lost the link but I'd expect much more metal metalcore on the station now. :p

I have to agree, the bikers I know IRL don't listen to hip hop. :p

(Slightly OT: DM did you recently have the In Flames jester as your sig? :p)

Hip-Hop, who says I like hip-hop?

I just feel I played GTA4 with the radio off most times or I didn't care. In SA there was some catchy stuff.

See, while i know this is true, I completely disagree. Only one hardcore. I hate it when I tell people I grew up listening to hardcore and they say "was techno out in the 80's" LOL

First time I ever saw Sepultura was in 1991 with Agnostic Front, Sick Of It All, and Napalm Death. Was my hardcore bands then death metal bands. Point being is Sepultura actually was just as much of a hardcore band (by their choosing) back then as they were a metal band. Definitely not so much now, but their special thanks in Beneath The Remains and Arise is filled with a whole, whole lot of Hardcore bands, so I think you might be surprised. Do not get me wrong, I am sure he will be throwing in some death metal, but he has real deep roots in hardcore as well.

Now all of a sudden I am looking forward to this, when I really was not all that into it before reading this.

The Lost and the Damned - seven multiplayer additions listed

By Stephany Nunneley

It seems CVG liked playing around with The Lost and the Damneds multiplayer an awful lot.

The site?s preview?s broken into seven online play additions. The favorite by far though was one titled Own the City, which pits two teams of four against one another as they strive to take over various territories.

?It?s all very similar to San Andreas own turf feature; once either team has eliminated an area?s AI gang members it?ll change to their colour, spawning your own tooled-up AI mates in the process. A frantic, city-sprawling turf war ensues with team members gearing up to assault enemy turf, while scrambling back to their own to defend opposing attacks.?
