gu1do
Hi, I have recently installed ubuntu on my machine. At the moment both vista and ubuntu are on a 74gb raptor, which seems to be working fine. My problem is that i have 2x500gb hardrives set up in raid 0 to use as storage. Vista detects them fine but i am having problems finding them in linux. Any solutions anyone? Cheers G

RAID 0
Hard drives set up in Windows as a RAID?Let me make a guess on the problem: http://linux-ata.org/faq-sata-raid.html Mark, not all RAIDs are "fakeRAIDs" Mine is setup in the RAID BIOS on the MB. It is not setup as a software RAID, it's all hardware. If the MB manufacturer included the RAID drivers for Linux on the driver disk, you should be able to load the drivers in Linux and have it see your RAID. I never got around to doing that on my new PC, so I installed Ubuntu on my laptop.
markwolfe Veteran Posted December 2, 2008 Veteran Share Posted December 2, 2008 I would venture to say that kernel code for all supported RAID hardware is already included, and would have been detected and used. ;) The logical conclusion, based on the laws of probability for every other thread there where a Windows-created RAID was not detected in linux is that this is likely software RAID. Just using Occam's razor. But, for giggles, let me ask the thread starter: What RAID card (or MB chipset) are you using?

Post your device model, so we can see to what that "issue" is related to. By the way, using RAID 0 is asking for trouble. If some disk fails, good luck getting your data back...
