Frontpage Layout, Forums Links

Recommended Posts

I've just noticed that since the site redesign I very rarely visit the forums anymore. Usually I would follow the links from the frontpage to the forum but since they've been moved to the right I rarely pay attention now. I also find that since there are so many sub-categories that quite often the quicklinks aren't of interest to me, which also contributes to the issue. Is there any way it could be implemented so that you could choose what categories you want to see and how many links are on the frontpage? If so I could select the forums I prefer and increase the number of links displayed to provide more relevant results.

I only ask because Neowin was my number one go to site (since 2001) but I find myself drifting away.

Sorry if I wasn't clear but I meant the "Forum Posts" tab under the "Latest Community Activity". I guess the biggest issue is just that I was so used to the forum links being at the top left that I find it hard to get myself to look at the top right of the page. Thinking about it the best way I can see would be to for an option to switch the position of the left and right columns so that the forums posts are at the top left. Obviously I have no idea how much work that would entail for what is a minor issue, and I'm guessing it's probably awkward / timing consuming to implement, but if it was a something simple I'd definitely appreciate it.

I definitely don't want to come across as ungrateful or demanding as clearly a huge amount of effort has been put into the redesign and it looks stunning. I accept that it's not likely to change but thought I'd post anyway in case it's a simple change or a lot of other users felt the same.

I actually kind of like it on the right, but that's my opinion.

I cant speak for the dev team, but only give you a bit of insight on this. Having the recent forum posts and stuff isn't normally looked at alot, and can be taking up too much room if at the top of the forum. Having 4 tabs in one small space makes things a lot cleaner for the smaller unused features of the layout.

This also helps keep the latest news / pinned articles at the top to keep the visible for all users.
