Yeah, they've stripped it right back to it's roots, which I'm kinda happy about tbh. I'm sure there will be sequels :)

You sound like you'd kick my arse lol. add me SPANKiE101

Yeah most of the time you can't tell you're playing online (apart from the fact you're getting battered). Had the odd flakey connection, but even then, it's not that bad.

Street Fighter IV Japanese sales numbers are high, probably

Street Fighter IV may have had an impressive Japanese launch. Capcom?s title reportedly sold 86,000 copies -- a stunning 58k of those were to the PlayStation 3 version -- on February 13. That?s a lot. A grandmother would break it down by saying that more copies were purchased than ?Quaker has oats,? which seems like an apt analysis. We knew SFIV's launch would be good, but these launch numbers are massive.

Street Fighter IV sells out first day; 86K copies sold

By Stephany Nunneley

Looks like returning to your roots may be a wise move for publishers at the moment, if first-day Japanese sales of Street Fighter IV are any indication.

The game sold 86,000 copies total, and subsequently sold out on both PS3 and Xbox 360.

The title will chart as the best-selling PS3 fighter in Japan.

It launches in the US on February 17.

Yeah good Japanese numbers seeing as Japan is almost shunning HD gaming completely. They'll come to their senses eventually :p

It's all PSP/DS over there, even the Wii's numbers have been dropping [although they're still higher than the HD consoles].

Go inside the Street Fighter IV Launch!

I know, due to challenges coming in to me via Facebook and IM, that Street Fighter IV hits the? er? street today.

To celebrate the 2nd (or 3rd, or 4th) coming of the Street Fighter legacy, Capcom threw a giant launch party a few days ago in downtown Los Angeles. Many of you attended, some were rebuffed by the LA fire marshal, but all that made it in had a great time.

When I first arrived, Capcom Community Guy and Street Fighter Legend Seth Killian offered up a tour. I rolled video so you could see what went down inside:

More pics of the event here. Thanks Justin M!

Gushing fanboy time: my personal highlights were getting my phone engraved, meeting Cmdr. Geordi La Forge, and getting my butt handed to me by Destructoid?s Nick Chester 3 matches in a row.

Again, it was great meeting those who got in, and I extend my personal apologies for those invitees turned away due to overcapacity.

Haha exactly.

I actually stopped hitting the buttons when he did that freaky whirl pool move with the yin-yang thing, I was like: :| :o :omg:

He's easy to beat now, once you know his patterns and moves.
