Street Fighter IV stick proves MadCatz still makes garbage, masses of complaints

MadCatz have recently been claiming that they are a changed company, no longer do they make products lacking in quality, at least that's what they wanted us to believe. But the new $80 Street Fighter IV stick proves MadCatz still have a major problem when it comes to the quality of their products. MaxConsole reader Ken R noticed that buttons stick, the joystick won't register down and right or down and left, and characters continue to walk forward or backward even after letting go and sometimes the controller just freezes. But he is not alone, hundreds of gamers are complaining of the exact same problems...

Here's what Ken R mailed us...

Just played it at my local HMV. Had two games with my mate and it ended up 1-1. I was actually unsure if i was going to get the game at first but after playing it and having fun i'm sure i'll buy it.

And thats why I will never buy MadCatz again  Bought one of their crappy controllers years ago and had the exact same issues. Some things never change!

Seriously, wtf is up with Seth? I breeze through every round on easy mode until I get to him. He's one CHEAP MOTHER ****ER! I find it's been easier to beat him with 1 round + 30 second timer. That way I just do a bit of damage and then back off and defend until time runs out.

I've been online as well and it's a blast. I've noticed no lag at all while playing! It's crazy all the good players out there already. I used to be good at fighting games but man....I'm constantly getting my ass handed to me :/

Finished the arcade with both Ryu and Ken and it takes a little getting use to using only the controller. I actually found myself using the analog stick more than the d-pad. Also a lot of people need to open ports for their PS3's. Almost everyone's connection is crap. Also the code that came with the collector's edition doesn't work yet. Hopefully it will Thursday.

I don't see a difference between the two versions. They both look and play very well, and I haven't had any problems playing online with either version. I've only played more on 360 since most of my friends have that version.

As for controls, if you have a choice between using the regular 360 controller or the DualShock 3, definitely pick the DS3 as it's a lot easier to work with. Honestly I'm not a big fan of either d-pad when it comes to fighting games, plus I have a hard time adjusting to only four face buttons. I've been using the SF Fightpad on the 360 version and a Saturn USB controller for the PS3, so they're pretty much the same for me. I might pick up a stick down the line, but I'm fine with the pads for now.

So yeah, whichever version you pick, you win. Just pick based on controller preference and whichever version your friends have.

For anyone who already has this game. What are the xbox live options like? Like can a whole party play and does it let 2 people watch while 2 other people are fighting?

Unfortunately not. It doesn't have the lobby/quarter-match option like in HD Remix. I definitely wish it did though, since there's usually a party of 6 or 7 of my friends every night trying to manually organize matches. There's rumors of an update to add the lobbies, but I'm not sure if it really is coming or not.

Ryu is 3" and Viper is just over 2".

I completely spaced and forgot to take pics of the Hint book. Uploading them now (minus the back page which includes the DLC code of course :p )

Can't be bothered finding the other topic, but Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix will be in tonight's EU PSN update.

This game is amazing. Presentation is superb, the characters have a satisfying weigh to them, the sounds are chunky and the characters are beautifully realised. I'm blown away but how brilliant it is.

How's everyone getting on who don't use the fight sticks? I only have a controller and cba to pay for the sticks xD

Abolsutely fine here with the thumb sticks, it works perfectly :)

And after reading about the Madcatz controllers being as bad as ever, I'm glad I didn't buy one now!
