Naruto: The Broken Bond, anybody playing it?

Recommended Posts

First off, what a transformation. I enjoyed the last Naruto game for the 360 a lot but there were some shortcomings; the minigames, similar missions, etc. Anything I could have complained about in the last game has been completely re-done. I just got down playing a straight three hour session, it is just that fun. Diverse and fun minigames (I even got some friends involved), fun video sequences, fighting has been tweaked a little, and the party system just to mention a few things

Anybody else playing it?

Just played the demo, and liking what I see so far. Does this follow the manga more, or something? Because, unless it's specific to the demo, there's quite a few scripted events (such as The Third building that wall to protect himself from the flood from The Second), which I don't remember happening in the Anime at all.

Nonetheless, good stuff. I've been meaning to really get myself into a Naruto game, and the current generation of Naruto Games (Broken Bond, Ultimate Ninja Storm) seem to be the best of them all.

Not yet, maybe I'll rent it today, when did it release?

November 17th.

is this game the one with the easiest 1000 gamer points ever?

Don't think so, some of the achievements are pretty hard.

Not sure what your talking about with the wall.

It has followed the show pretty closely.

I got it on release and already completed it. Very good game.

It follows from when the third dies and ends after Sasuke retrieval arc. There some bits in there that are different from the manga just to flesh out the game.

I really liked the story side of the game, i don't know why there are not more Naruto games like this. One thing that bugged me were the graphics, while the game itself looked nice, the real time cut-scenes were pretty poor. I might being picky because i was playing Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm and graphically that game is mind blowing.

Yeah, one thing I'll advise everyone not to do and that's try and compare this game (or any anime game, really) to Ultimate Ninja Storm :p UNS will come out on top every time.

Hmm well they both have their highlights. I think part of the edge goes to the 360 because they have been able to put out two full length Naruto games in the space of the PS3's one.

I think I have almost finished up the campaign. The length on it really has improved from the first one. I actually wanted to go find extra tokens etc. Besides that, the missions in between story missions have actually been properly fleshed out. They are more fun and in most cases, hint towards the actual story line. Hopefully Ubisoft continues this tradition of one upping the previous Naruto game. I really applaud them.

Can't wait to finish it!

I really don't like how I have to play the story mode to unlock characters... booo... I just want to fight.

That is the thing though, this isn't purely a fighter. More like an RPG so I'm not sure if this satisfies your initial wants.

It's more like an action platformer really. You run around, jump, break stuff, etc.

This probably won't happen, but I wish the Narutimate series get brought over to 360. But probably won't happen because of licensing... so sad.

That is more correct, I mis-spoke about the genre earlier. Action platformer with RPG elements.

Can someone explain to me how to do the substitution jutsu. In the demo i could pull it off almost every time an enemy attacked me but now i struggle to even do it once. Which restricts my characters progression in the Dojo

It is all about timing. Just when they are about to attack you, you press B+move the left stick the opposite way they are attacking. So if they are attacking the right use B+move the left stick left. :p

Just finished the game today and it turned out awesome. I knew coming into this game it would be a little more power packed just because of what the story line had invovled but Ubisoft Montreal really outdid themselves.

I can't wait to see how they do the jump to Shippudden with the next game. They led in a little bit right after the final fight but they didn't give much background for Sakura's transition. Does anybody know how far along the U.S. is for airing English Naruto episodes?

  • 8 months later...

I agree. My main enjoyment was to just get the handle and fight!

I found this cool Naruto Games site where they have pretty awesome flash games online. And they are all free.. ;-)

Blast from the past.

You shouldn't resurrect old topics.

I got excited for a second because I thought there was a new Naruto game but saw it was my old topic. Oh well. :p

If you like Naruto the manga/anime then it is definitely worth getting. It makes a change having a nice Naruto adventure game, instead of the million Naruto beat em ups.

I've been debating whether to get this game, is it any good?

See below. :D

I agree wholeheartedly. Before the two Naruto games everywhere else was just beat em up arcade style (2D like). Broken Bond is the better of the two because they improved on a ton of things from the original. That said, the original is still a ton of fun.
