Skulltrail-old
I just arrived from a cousin's house whom has an Xbox 360. I logged on (recovered) my gamertag on his console so I could play the games he owns. After playing Castle Crashers (great game) and Left 4 Dead, I stacked up on much gamerscore. Apparently he cannot connect his Xbox 360 until tomorrow (December 7th, 2008) and since he lent me Fable II, I'd like to play it now. I got an error while attempting to log in on my console at home, something like I had lost my membership and that I had to recover (notice the gamertag was not updated at all after earning about 200G). I thought, sure why not, so I did. I understand I'll still have 711G but will it increase one he logs on my account on his console (blatantly when he's connected to the internet) or have I lost all the G I made on his console? I ask because I really want to play Fable II but am scared if I earn G and then he logs on to my account on his console, I won't get any of the G I earned. Is this a fact? Please enlighten me. Rookas
The real question is: how did you recover your gamertag from xbox live if the console was offline?
Skulltrail-old
The real question is: how did you recover your gamertag from xbox live if the console was offline? My console is connected to the internet at all times. My cousin's isn't. I was playing and gaining G on his console, now that I'm home will I get the Gs I got on his console once HE connects to the internet and updates my gamertag? Rookas
No, my question is how did you recover your gamertag onto your cousin's xbox?
Skulltrail-old
No, my question is how did you recover your gamertag onto your cousin's xbox? He connected his internet for a second so I can get my gamertag. But since his stepfather is a total biatch, he disconnected it afterwards. I gained 200G+ and now I'm home. He said he'll reconnected it tomorrow. EDIT: But will I be able to get the G earned then when he refreshes it online? Rookas
Gotcha. Well, I'm thinking you lost those points. They are currently in achievement limbo and tied to your cousins box. Since your gamertag no longer exists on his box they most likely will not magically appear on your profile once he's online. I'm curious if you could get them back by going online on his xbox again, but I'm thinking they are gone. The good news is that L4D is really easy to get points in, and now you have another reason to play it again (doubt you need a reason however, L4D rocks!). snugglepuffle
if i remeber rightly [and please do not quote me on this as theres a chance i might be wrong] but if you recovered the gamertag on one console and gained a new GS and the console was online right up until you stopped playing and gained the last of your achievements then once you recover it at home, your new score will show. if you were playing offline at your cousin's and the console has not been reconnected to live and your account not logged in, then the xbox servers will not know you have new achievements. i'm going to assume you were playing offline and you won't get your new achievemnts unless you recover your profile when its been logged back online at your cousin's. but once you recover your profile with the new gamerscore you will loose all the achievements you gain tonight playing fable, but you will get the scores for the games you played offline. i'm 99.5% sure about this because i tried it a while back and the same thing happened to me. but please don't quote me on that as theres 0.5% chance of me being wrong [but if i'm right then please quote me :p]. wish it was better news though :/ Edited December 7, 2008 by snugglepuffle

We were playing on insane. Not very difficult; boomers are just more annoying than usual and witches are a lot stronger/faster. (1-hit KO type of attacking LOL) I won't play tonight. Hopefully he will log online with my gamertag and it will update. Otherwise I'm screwed. if i remeber rightly [and please do not quote me on this as theres a chance i might be wrong] but if you recovered the gamertag on one console and gained a new GS and the console was online right up until you stopped playing and gained the last of your achievements then once you recover it at home, your new score will show. if you were playing offline at your cousin's and the console has not been reconnected to live and your account not logged in, then the xbox servers will not know you have new achievements. i'm going to assume you were playing offline and you won't get your new achievemnts unless you recover your profile when its been logged back online at your cousin's. but once you recover your profile with the new gamerscore you will loose all the achievements you gain tonight playing fable, but you will get the scores for the games you played offline. i'm 99.5% sure about this because i tried it a while back and the same thing happened to me. but please don't quote me on that as theres 0.5% chance of me being wrong. wish it was better news though :/ So regardless I'll lose gamerscore. If I play fable tonight, I will lose out on those but will gain the other G. If I lose that G I'll earn the new fable achievements. I'll play tomorrow...

To get those points you earned at your cousin's house your cousin will need to reconnect his Xbox to the internet and sign your account in. My neighbour used to come around and recover his gamertag round mine before earning some points with me in co-op Halo 3. He kept the points. what
Easiest way to avoid such travesties (I couldn't imagine earning 200GS and then losing it >_> *cough*) is to copy your profile to a memory unit.

That's actually a really good idea. I have an Arcade 360 so it only had a memory card. I'll be sure to use it as a portable Xbox Live Account. ^_^
