MrA
I'm thinking of installing 64-bit flash on my work desktop and was wondering if anyone here has used it? How fast is it? Is it stable? General opinions? Thanks.
rpgfan
It appears to be just fine, though Firefox hangs sometimes (you can close the browser windows, but it just won't die unless you kill it!), but I presume that is just a problem with Firefox 3.0.4... That release has had a number of problems and not just on Linux... Other browsers that use the same control appear to be just fine, however. Konqueror, Opera, etc.... What about in comparison to 32-bit flash? Is it faster or slower, more or less stable?
rpgfan
Well, so far it simply seems to use more resources, sometimes resulting in loss of speed, but then again it's pre-release. I'd recommend sticking with the 32-bit version for now, especially since the machine you're thinking about installing it on is used for work. Heck, I install beta nvidia driver the other day.
ootput
I'm using 64bit flash on archlinux (w/ opera & firefox): cpu usage rarely spikes above 18% - even on HD WS youtube videos
pyther
If your running 32bit flash within nspluginwrapper then by all means switch to the 64bit native flash plugin. If you are thinking of upgrading to x86_64, then its stable enough for general use, but if you depend on and it would be bad if flash crashed, then I'd probably stick with the x86 version. ViperAFK
works way better than the 32 bit flash with the plugin wrapper
Elv13
Work better for me, Firefox feel faster with 64bit plugins. I installed IcedTea (Java) too, so I go ride of my last 32bit plugins and everything is faster. FullScreen mode don't crash anymore and the speed is a lot better in flash applet.
