bjoswald
I'm having a strange icon display error in my Start menu on Vista. The icons for certain programs aren't being displayed (e.g. jv16 Power Tools 2008). It's just the blank white square. There's appropriate icons for everything else, however. Is this a Vista bug or something I've done? EDIT: I can right-click the programs missing appropriate icons and they display perfectly. But when I close the dialogue box, they're still missing. sullysnet
if you create a shortcut on the desktop to the application do you get the same effect? I had issues with Media Player Classic showing no icon for avi files. Vista likes to control the associations on applications and does not like an application to control these. Not sure that jv16 has any file associations prompted during install. Maybe you can clear the icon cache? It's not a simple process unless you have some sort of tweaking application
bjoswald
Sorry for ignoring this post. It has nothing to do with file associations, because all of the programs that aren't appearing are independent of the system. It's mostly the .exe shortcuts of the programs, too. Strange. zhangm Supervisor Posted January 2, 2009 Supervisor Share Posted January 2, 2009 You could try purging your iconcache.db file. Userdir/Appdata/Local/IconCache.db
