Zickar
I feel like I'm really using this site, I feel like I'm always taking more than I'm giving and that's usually because I know little compared to what you guys know and I want to learn more ..... The things is at some point I'm afraid I'm stepping over the line and just bugging everyone with my question and although I'm sure nothing is wrong with asking questions I just wanna know when asking questions becomes trolling and where is the best place to ask questions at. By questions I really mean begginer questions like what is this or what does this do, I constantly check Computer related sites and Wikipidea and Webopedia are always my first place to look at for stuff I don't understand but sometimes All the links on the page and all the details distracts you from the real subject and I get lost ... In the past month or so I have understood your posts more than I understand some WIkipedia quote some of you posted in reply to a question and that is what has encouraged me to ask more questions I don't know where exactly to post these questions, Maybe you can start a section for noob questions like mine about what this stuff or that does and means or maybe there aren't enough noob topics on the forum to merit starting a section for that, I just want to know If its OK to ask questions like that or should I **** off to Wikipedia?? and if its OK I want to know what is the best section to do so cause I can't find one ?? Don't be scared to ask 'n00bish' questions on the forums here; its main purpose is to help people solve their problems after all. Where do you reckon I should ask these questions For example right now I'm trying to know what multi-streaming is and it lead me opening eight or so tabs (Reading the WIkipedia page) and now I want to know what abstraction layers are and what TCP/IP is !! Where do you think I can aske these questions, Is it OK if I asked them in their relevant sections , Example a question about Internet in the Internet , a question about Hardware in teh hardware , etc !!! or is there a section for these, so far the section of Essential guides seems most relevant but its a section of guides not questions so I don't want to disrupt it I guess asking the questions in their relative sections is the best way , Right !! t0mbi
yeah you will find that most people are here to help, sure they are a few ******s but just ignore them.. we are here to help! and if you do post a new thread in the wrong area, someone will mention it in the thread and you ask a mod to move it to the right place for you! :) Hope that helps ya! +Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted December 8, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted December 8, 2008 As gay as this might seem Could you please refrain from using such language. You equate homosexuality with inadequacy and a negative connotation. But yeah, everyone asks noob questions at times, I know I did!

zach_
There's always someone who is more of a noob out there so you're helping them as well if they stumble across the topic from a search engine's results.

The only time you would be crossing the line, is if you start to get irrate when people take too long to come back with an answer, or if that answer does not work for you etc. Asking a question is fine and is what Neowin is here for, but keeping on topic is a whole different ball game. shihchiun
There's nothing wrong with asking "noob" questions, but it definitely helps if you make an effort to try and find things out for yourself first.

Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted December 8, 2008 Global Moderator Share Posted December 8, 2008 This is what a forum is built around, users questions. Just ask what you need, and I am sure you'll get some "google it" responses, which can deter users from asking questions later, but someone will definitely give you a reply.
