Microsoft drops major hint on Crackdown sequel

Recommended Posts

I recently picked up crackdown, while the game is fun and addicting it doesn't have a storyline literally nothing. I like to play games with atleast a decent storyline. So I hope they do add some sort of storyline for Crackdown2.

I had a lot of fun with Crackdown. It wholly replaced GTA for me when it comes to having fun in a sandbox environment.

I hope they make Crackdown 2!

I liked it better than GTAIV personally. I know that sounds ridiculous, but for me it's true.

I'd love to see a sequel, but it would have to be re-worked. I played the crap out of it and found all the agility orbs and all but 1 hidden orb (I still plan to find it one day) but I just have the hardest time staying interested in it now. I recently played some co-op with a friend that had just bought it, and I was bored to tears within 20 minutes. A game like Crackdown should have tons of side quests and mini games but it didn't, so it was very hard to stay interested after completing the story.

Oh, and +1 for a Darkness sequel, that game was great!

Yup me too. I actually seen to the end with Crackdown, whereas I couldn't give a rats ass about completing GTA4 (or any GTA game for that matter).

Crackdown sequel would be amazing! My mate and I played the first one for ages, creating jumps off bridge with lorries and the super cars, doing flips etc. Brilliant game.

Also DEFINITELY need a sequel to The Darkness, that game had brilliant gameplay, along with one of the best stories in a game, presented fantastically!

Right now Starbreeze Studios is working on the Chronicles of Riddick Assault on Dark Athena, a sequel to the prequel they made (Chronicles of Riddick Escape from Butcher Bay), which was by far one of the best looking and most fun to play FPS games on the Xbox, even better than Halo single player but never got any mass recognition due to the lack of multiplayer, and the fact it was a movie-game tie-in which usually suck so everyone passed it off as just another crap game.

It's not quite clear what Dark Athena is. Originally it was just a remake, but an article a few weeks ago said it can be considered a new game entirely. Then there was a listing for the game contents and it said "bonus: The Chronicles of Riddick Escape From Butcher Bay".

Also, it did well because it didn't follow the movie plots at all, its set before Pitch Black and Chronicles. So although it features Riddick, its loosely related to the movies almost entirely. Only the universe is the same as well as Riddick's character of course.

Dark Athena was announced in an interview that Dark Athena is a mercenary ship that has captured Riddick's ship after he escapes from Butcher Bay and then tries to take him back to a Triple Super Max prison, but it is also a full fledged next-gen remake of Escape from Butcher Bay going off by what the guy is talking about.

Dark Athena Interview

Go ahead and nerdgasm, I did.

Yup, thats what I said :p

Although its still not clear if its an entirely new game with just the bonus of the first game. or if has actually been ported and upgraded with new story & missions..

I loved the 1st one. Actually I like it more than GTA4. I really hope this is true!!!

I agree, completely. I'll admit that I bought Crackdown for the Halo 3 invite, but I wound up loving the game more than any GTA game I've played. It was just simply fun to play. I still need to find that last damn orb. I have 499/500 lol.

That game made me watch the movies. I thought Riddick was such a cool character that the movies had to be decent. Man was I wrong. Still, Escape from Butcher Bay was an amazing game, I really hope Dark Athena is a remake with extra content. It looked so amazing on xbox I can't wait to see what they can pull off on the 360. Ooh, a moth.

I really thought that Chronicles of Riddick was a very good Sci-Fi movie. He's made for the emotionless role and did it well.
