magik
Only warranted a rent for me. I got bored of the GoW1 MP soon and the GoW2 MP that I tried didn't seem that much more appealing, although the new gametypes/modes are welcome. :) Loved the SP though. :D
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted December 8, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted December 8, 2008 Just an FYI, but selling a ton of units doesn't mean a game is going to be in the Platinum series anytime soon, or at all. Uh, aren't games just like the music industry. i.e if it sells more than 1 million it goes platinum? I'm pretty sure that's how it's always worked? I think so  But in terms of greatest hits/platinum copies, I think it's still up to Sony/MS/Developers whether or not they actually issue a platinum re-release. I think in most cases they do though.
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted December 8, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted December 8, 2008 Yeah exactly, I don't think titles like Fifa/PES deserve a Platinum release every year and I'm pretty certain they reach 1M at least.

Nope, those titles drop to platinum pricing within months anyway as they become completely disposable when the next yearly iteration hits. I remember PES08 (Probably happened with 09 as well), was down to like ?20 a few weeks after release - Probably helped by how crap it was.
Corris Veteran Posted December 8, 2008 Veteran Share Posted December 8, 2008 I swear I had read it had hit 3 million already. Never mind then, I have no doubt it will reach it soon enough though. What did Gears1 end up with, something around 5 million now isn't it?

No, the platinum hits series, like the cheaper versions. Maybe it's called Xbox Hits now? Edit: Nope, still Platinum Hits: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/platinumhits/default.htm

Ayepecks
Oh, you guys get all the platinum selling games? That's pretty cool. Here Halo 3 is still full price, as are some other platinum games.
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted December 9, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted December 9, 2008 Yeah man, just about all the "good" games since launch are Platinum here. They go for as cheap as ?5 (around $7).
