Titoist
I installed Ubuntu 8.10 on my Gateway TabletPC CX2620 a couple of days ago. I however have a problem after resuming from hibernation and stand by modes. Ubuntu loads fine, and everything works except the mouse. The mouse does not work, even if I plug in my wireless mouse. It just stays there. Can anyone help?

redvamp128
Try disabling Compiz (turn off the eye candy) see if the problem still occurs and I found this --http://mdessus.free.fr/Divers/Asus_v6j_linux.html It seems as if the addition of these policies Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "Default Layout" Screen "Default Screen" InputDevice "Generic Keyboard" InputDevice "Configured Mouse" "CorePointer" InputDevice "Touchpad" "AlwaysCore" EndSection Seems to help. I think it does not stop the touchpad service during hibernation -- you could try adding just these two lines the Configured Mouse and touchpad ones. sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf then add those two lines and make sure to put a space on the end -- before the next line... I just found this after reading about 3 pages on your issues. This is a debian fix and may fix your issue.
Titoist
It affects both the touchpad and usb mouse. After putting the laptop into hybernation both stop working. Redvamp128, I just tried at what you suggested and it doesnt seem to work either. This is so frustrating cause I use hibernation alot inbetween classes. Ill keep researching on my issue. Oh, the suggestion did help somewhat. Upon hybernation the mouse works on the logon screen, but stops working once on the Desktop. About the "insult", I actually didn't mean to insult anyone, was just making a joke between the stereotypical "linux doesn't support alot of software" with "linux doesn't support support" if you know what I mean, cause I had this issue before on Ubuntu 7.10 and it went unanswered so I got frustrated even more after I went to 8.04 and then 8.10 with the same issue. Actually, in 8.04 hibernation barely works. The computer will start up, but it takes at least 10min for the password logon to activate and even then the mouse is laggy beyond usability. redvamp128
The main thing about linux you fail to realize-- There are so many distro's and no 2 peoples boxes are configured alike.... For example some people enable beta- updates-- choose to download updates-- compile their own builds and configure differently. So it may take people a while to figure out a fix for you. I will keep your issues in mind-- thought possibly that could fix it-- If I knew more about "service states" and dealing with hibernation. I know there is a way to configure it so that those services start different or do not stop during hibernation. So I will keep looking for you. And did you reboot after those changes? I know that it polls that file only during post....
Titoist
Yeah I did reboot, the only way to use my computer now is to fully shut it down. Anyway, yeah I know there are many configurations but I am running Ubuntu 8.10 on default settings from installation if that is any help.
