Do the newer systems still RRoD?

Recommended Posts

Technically speaking, the newer systems are more efficient and are less prone to RRODs, but it also boils down to your usage and luck.

No one will guarantee you won't get a RROD, but the chances are reduced for newer units.

I think you can tell from the relative absense of "omg my millionth 360 has the rrod" threads in this forum that the newer machines are better at keeping the heat away from where it matters. Honestly, the RROD isn't something to worry about anymore providing you look after your system. And if it does blow up, you still have that three year warranty.

Well, if you get the Jasper one, I highly doubt it will happen. The Falcons already greatly reduced that probability, and with Jasper bringing in smaller die for cpu and gpu, and less power consumption, I would think you'll be pretty good to go.

There have definitely been fewer reports of RRoDs as the console revisions have happened, but it's still down to how you treat it, and also luck.

You have 3 years warranty. If it does RROD be glad. You don't play for a week and you get an upgraded console. My console had some other graphical problems (not RROD) and I got a new(er) console with HDMI and a quieter drive.

I'd also recommend getting a Jasper. They should be prevalent  prolific after the holidays, so it shouldn't be hard to find one.
