Xbox Live Christmas Crash Won't Happen Again

Recommended Posts

With Microsoft sporting a cheaper console and the need to upgrade all new Xbox 360s to the New Xbox Experience come Christmas morning, it seems that a repeat of last year's Live crash is imminent.

Not so, says Aaron Greenberg, group product manager for Xbox 360.

"We?ve built a lot of infrastructure, a lot of behind the curtain no one sees," he said. "This is something that Microsoft is good at.

"We are well prepared for the type of growth we expect this holiday."

And if things do go sideways, Greenberg promises that Microsoft will be prepared.

"We will have people standing by, more people on hand than we've ever had before," he said. "Knock on wood we will hopefully not have any issues."

Good news as I'm sure with the influx of traffic at Christmas due to the 360 prices, we'll have a megaton of people trying to connect Christmas day.

I mean, screw the Turkey, who doesn't want a massive dose of gaming on Christmas day:p:p

I think it goes without saying they learnt a lot of lessons from last xmas and will definitely be more prepared this time around.

Sadly I won't be on XBL on xmas day, I'll probably be spending it at my mum's!

I'm going to turn it on just on the hope that I won't be able to connect, it'll mean more freebies for us Gold users (Y).

I'm not going to be playing it though, I have far more important things to worry about, like PRESENTS!

hmmm, if they have all the infrastructure they need why was xbl timing out and slow as hell when nxe launched.

I've not had any problems at all  and I'm a pretty heavy XBL user!

gtfo with fat jokes, you know what I mean!

Rudy, you have to be the most hard to pleased gamer I've ever known.

You even outdo Sethos! :p

Give me an HD remake a la SFIIHD (which looks AWESOME btw) of an RPG that was on the SNES and I'll buy it.....I might even buy it twice...just to show my support :)

If I could make it happen I would :p Just to see you happy for a change in this subforum! lol

Although, I think it's unlikely since all the good ones you'd want are probably licensed to Ninty?

Last years problems were so damn annoying, specially because it was shortly after the release of Call of Duty 4 and it was impossible to play for weeks! But again, they gave us a great compensation gift

Not really, there's no reason why Final Fantasy or something like that couldn't be remade (another time lol....but this time it would be worth it, I loved the FF remake on the PSP).

But there's a few good looking RPGs for the 360 that I still have to try out.... I just need more time (Chrono Trigger for the DS didn't help :()

I do spend the majority of Christmas with my family.

But not the whole 24 hours of the day

I'm 21 years old, not 4. My parents/family and friends also like their own time in the evening, when they usually get drunk and talk nonsense haha.

The turkey comment was a joke.

Maybe out for weeks for some, but it ended up for me only having a couple hours out of say 3-4 days that were spotty, otherwise it was fine.

On one had it was a huge problem, but on the other, it was just a testament to how many people were using their service which is great.

Quite the contrary. Videogames increase your visual/spatial abilities and can help reaction times. Too much gaming can be detrimental, but then again, too much of anything can be detrimental.

As far as gaming on Xmas, I usually wouldn't, but then again that's usually because one of my family gatherings was always on Xmas day. It's not this year. I've one on the 20th and one on the 28th, so it'll be those two days that I'm not gaming.

The crash last year didn't affect me much. I didn't have too much time to play among doing other things, so it wasn't a bother.

and more and more games bring families together

On xmas day 2006 I spent a lot of it playing Wii Sports with my mum :p Then we did the whole xmas lunch/dinner and at night they watched all the extra long xmas soaps or w/e while I played Zelda (Y)

But continue trolling about something you don't completely understand / or have an interest in Smooth (Y) Nobody really cares about your anti-games attitude around here, you know..the Gamers Hangout etc etc ;)
