I've never heard of a dock that works on anything earlier than Windows 2000. The technology just isn't there in Windows 9x/ME.

Developers just don't bother creating programs for older systems anymore. You could try making a small web page with images and links to your programs on and using it as an Active Desktop item - but otherwise I think your luck has run out!

windows ..... ME ..... shutter !

good luck locating an older version

this is the kind of comments that make a lot of people "shutter" when asking questions about 98/me. lol

Shudder?

Oldversions.com?

But that's the problem, Windows 9x isn't used by very many people these days.

But there is a forum for support on these OS's on Neowin, therefore making your posts unhelpfull and off topic. If you cant help him, then dont post. Its been stated by Mods many times that these old forums are here to support people still using these old systems, NOT to slate people for using older systems.

But still, if nobody is writing software for 9x, why request it be written if every modern programming language requires Windows 2000?

I dont see anywhere that asks if it can be made, only if there is one that WAS made during the hight of 98 usage. Therefore your argument is void.

    • Well duh. But it's not their agenda, they just push it forward.
    • Easier to move to Firefox, either Zen Browser or LibreWolf (which includes it by default)
    • People do not care. We are all tourists on this trip called life. So many others thing you can do, should do, then worry about trying to protect data collection. Not using Chrome, the most popular, most compatible and fastest patched browser on the market, because of data collection or some moral/political reason....is a complete waste of time IMHO. But we all get roughly the same amount of time on this trip, feel free to spend yours doing whatever makes you happy.
    • Does anyone know how the Ghostery extension works in Google Chrome? I switched to that quite a while ago, from uBlock Origin after uBlock started having issues just working. Personally I love Ghostery and I think it does a fantastic job, and I really enjoy the whitelist I have built up as well for tons of websites that don't serve ads so that it isn't blocking good elements of them by accident.
