Avatar Clothes Coming Soon

Recommended Posts

it sure would be nice if this stuff was released now, too many live clothes clones right now. Almost everyone went with the brown jacket/hoodie . Atleast a color changer at launch would have been nice.

i would like to see brand name clothing in there, maybe include a little fee, but so many people are wearing the same **** and a few of my mates don't realize that are all looking like MR. Andersons...:)

All avatar clothing will be free. They don't want to pull a HOME

http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/12/15/...vatar-clothing/

We recently showed you what kind of fashions you can spend about $20 on to make your PlayStation Home avatar look just a little more snazzy. For 49 cents, you too can wear a virtual cowboy hat ? or at least your Home avatar can.

So is this the future? A world of cheap avatar fashion purchases?

Sony seems to believe in it. Microsoft, I?ve learned, does not.

The day before Home launched I got a (clearly unrelated) briefing from Xbox product manager Aaron Greenberg and I brought up this topic. I asked: When/how/how-often will we see cheap clothing options for our Xbox 360 Avatars available for paid download?

?I don?t think there?s where you?re going to see a tremendous amount of revenue,? Greenberg said, phrasing his expression of Microsoft?s disinterest in selling Avatar clothing in way that argues there?s no profit in such a technique. Recently, Microsoft gave away the first batch of new Avatar clothing for free. They don?t think they?re leaving money on the table.

The kind of Avatar upgrading that Microsoft is interested in will involve gamers unlocking items for their Avatars through the games they are playing. The tools for this are now in the hands of developers. So when will we experience the first results? ?As soon as developers get it done,? Greenberg said.

So is 49 cents too much for a cowboy hat? Is paid clothing for avatars not the way to go? Or is it a worthwhile optional offering for a service like Home or Xbox Live?

(It should be noted, of course, that Home and all of the PlayStation Network?s services are free. Xbox Live Silver, the service that supports Avatars is free as well. Xbox Live Gold, which is required for multiplayer gaming, costs $50.)

I think having additional clothes available through game unlocks is pretty cool and can be cleverly done. Much better than charging for the stuff.

That's actually a very cool plan. It adds even more incentive on top of the Achievements and allows you to show off milestones that you've managed to reach.

Yeah, actually, I wouldn't mind the idea. I pay more for designer clothes in real life, I wouldn't mind if I paid a little to wear better looking clothing not every one have access to.

Well, technically, everyone already has these clothes .... so if they charged you for something you allready have that wouldn't be right.

everyone has a master cheif helmet for their avatar?

I've just asked the person on Youtube if he will tell me, fingers crossed :D.

He probably doesn't know. that was most likely recorded in the week during the closed beta when all those clothes where available to everyone before they where locked away in a safe, to be handed out in small packs, like the winter pack wich was the first release of those clothes.

I've always thought it would be awesome for awareness groups such as ''To Write Love On Her Arms'' to hook up with MS and release some of their virtual clothing. I think it would be a fantastic idea and would definitely raise awareness!

For the record I do wear TWLOHA clothing IRL :p

I think it's wishing thinking for brand name clothing to jump on this. Although I do believe that if they were to do this they might get more $$$ at the real store since it's somewhat of a promtoion.
