SonGoCHaiN
Hi! I've installed windows vista ultimate in a acer aspire 6930g with centrino2 cpu (P7350 @ 2ghz). Also i've installed all intel drivers (i think) that comes with acer dvd and the cpu is always at 2ghz (i think if the cpu has not task, the cpu should be at 800hz). Power plan is setting at balanced profile so i dont know what i can do. Here's a image with the cpu info: Thanks!
danisflying527
I don't get what your trying to say.. Do you mean that when the computer is idle the cpu is at 100%? Are you able to do other tasks without slowdown?? Because maybe the meter that you are using is well.... broken (lol look at that wording there x_x)
SonGoCHaiN
Thanks for reply, i mean when the computer is idle cpu is not at 100%, cpu speed is at 100% (2ghz instead 800hz when is idle).

waruikoohii
Make sure you have Speedstep and C1E enabled in the BIOS. Also make sure your currently selected power plan is "Balanced" and not "High Performance"
Digitalx
I think he's wondering about intel speedstep which underclockes the cpu while idle to conserve battery and power. But if you wish to run cpu at 2.0GHz all the time just go into bios on bootup and disable it. or vice versa to enable it.
SonGoCHaiN
Ok, here's. No tasks using cpu but cpu speed is at 2ghz. Cpu is not scaling the speed when the cpu is idle (no task using the cpu). This normally happens when i set power plan to high performance but power plan is setting at balanced (using powersaving too). I think he's wondering about intel speedstep which underclockes the cpu while idle to conserve battery and power. But if you wish to run cpu at 2.0GHz all the time just go into bios on bootup and disable it. or vice versa to enable it. Yes!!! The bios is very simple (it's a laptop) and i cannot enable/disable speedstep (in amd is powernow). This notebook comes with home premium 32bits and i have to install x64 version because 32bits cannot use 4gb of ram memory. With the acer preinstalled Vista home premium i've seem the cpu at 800hz when idle but now (i've installed all drivers for intel mobo and chipset) i dont know because speedstep doesnt work. Mannlich
Try installing a program like CPU-z to monitor frequency. I am not sure that Windows Information will pickup a real time change in CPU speed. http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
Skulltrail
Try installing a program like CPU-z to monitor frequency. http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php +1 You can also check the frequency with the Reliability and Performance Monitor which is part of Windows. Type in "perfmon" in your start menu's search bar and press enter. Under Reliability and Performance click on the CPU segment. Info regarding your processor should drop down including the processes as well as the CPU frequency (top graph).
