rage710
Hahaha when I first read that I thought it said "a pair of ghostbusters" :laugh:Ghostbusters should be on TV soon, they usually air it near Christmas \m/ I guess the 8th prestige is pretty high up there in awards? 8 times through the levels (1-55 each time). Although couldn't you eliminate that by playing a game type that doesn't really utilize the one death per round thing? There are tons of great game types in COD and the only one where you live once is Search.. Edit, looks like I was last to hit reply :hmmm:
Sethos
So you hit 55, THEN start leveling prestige? :|Damn, I suck ass at FPS games online  Aye, actually there's an invisible rank after 55, so basically it's 56. I usually only play Search & Destroy ( Bit like Counter-strike, Plant bomb, die and your out until next round ) where the points are great unless you suck and die all the time, then it's not so great :p

Hence me being **** at Socom  Those game modes do tend to offer some of the best team playing though, and risk/reward style play at times. You don't have as many people being careless mongs on your team, because if they are they spend 95% of their time not playing.
Sethos
Exactly why I like them. They slow down the game a fair bit and rewards tactical play and teamwork. I really loathe these gametypes where it's constant running around killing, capturing flags or holding down some checkpoint. Most people tend to give up on Hardcore Search & Destroy because it's so brutal to newcomers, which is sad because it's a great game-mode. But as you know it just takes time getting used to but really is a rewarding experience when you reach that point. Plus newcomers at S&D are better off finding a clan / some friends to play with, really adds to the experience. Then you don't have to be the best shot in the world or the most tactical guy, as long as you hold down a certain point or follow the team. We should definitely have a few matches some day, get you initiated in the world of Hardcore S&D

My brother whored it for the points and got to 10th prestige in a month - 9 weeks.

Blackhearted
So this guy is basically complaining cause his position can be given away over voice chat? ienhz
This is more of a game problem than a party chat problem. All the developer really has to do is lock the ghost cam to teammates only in ranked matches like you can do in CS and it pretty much solves everything. Hated the fact I could only talk to one person in private. Now I can play any game and not worry about hearing trash talk or little kids who got some freedom finally and feel like every curse/racist termonology is free to use. DDStriker
yeah , why would peopel want easy matchmaking the ability to just start up and join a game in progress without hunting for servers, or why would peopel want a services that handles voice for them out of the bo, and where you can be sure most of the people you play with have a headset, why would you want a services that auto matches you based on skill+++yeah, Live is killing online gaming, just look at it, only 10 million subsribers. yeah those "features" are free the only costs are servers which still doesn't warrant a fee thats just one good reason why pc gaming will always be far superior to console gaming (other then world of warcraft blizzard can goto hell :p)

KreepLX360
Is it the fact that now whole groups of friends can privately talk with each other while playing the game instead of listening to a bunch of children scream garbage over their mics? The feature has always been there and all they did was expand on it by allowing more than 2 to be on the channel at the same time. I prefer to have a conversation with my friends when playing online so I like the feature. I love the fact in COD that the loading screen means scream all you want and nobody will know who it is. Its like playing a game with a bunch of clucking chickens. More at source
t0mbi
i actually like party mode, think its a great addition to be able to chat to a few mates privately, so you don't have to talk over 12yo boys saying that they are going to **** my mum :)

DR3AMxCATCHER
ok then what is it that makes it worth those $4 a month eh? I'm just jumping in this thread and we've said so many things to back it up already. Instead of reading certain post look at all of them and read them through and to answer your question. Watching a person like you try to figure it out makes it worth $4 a month.
Emn1ty
Xbox live, in my opinion, is still alot more casual than PC gaming. QFT. I am honestly sick of the tournament attitude of players online. If you think that being able to talk to a player while dead hinders your ability to shoot someone in the face then by all means **** and moan about it. But in the end, does it really freaking matter? Party chat has utterly destroyed one of the core game mechanics of Chromehounds, but I don't sit there yelling about it. Sure, I think it is kinda BS that you no longer have to rely on capturing points on the map to keep in com range but honestly that is something that doesn't change my ability to shoot a sniper dead through the cockpit or dodge a cannon round. I think the general population of Live needs to get over this "winning is everything" mentality and just get over themselves.

DirtyLarry Veteran Posted December 23, 2008 Veteran Share Posted December 23, 2008 I would actually agree with this, if not for the fact while you are in a party you can press Y or X (do not remember which one) to change wether you use Party Chat or Game Chat. I do think more people should use in game chat though for certain games and certain modes, for example HQ in COD, while it is great if most of your party is your team, if it is only a 2-3 person party, it makes sense to use the Game Chat to coordinate with the other players on the server. Just MO.

DrunknMunky Veteran Posted December 23, 2008 Veteran Share Posted December 23, 2008 I've thought the same thing a few times. Just last night while Brad, Mike and I were on COD4 I was shouting out to some random on our team the enemy was on his left. Obviously he couldn't hear me and I completel forgot we were in party chat at the time, but we might not have lost had we been in game chat. Ghosting is nothing new though, you could do it on the original Xbox too iirc. The article is clearly trying to down play the success of NXE.
