jere
hello, is it possible to remove this toolbar, iether by a registry edit, or a hack of explorer.exe... i'm desperate and have been googling for the last hour, but couldn't find a solution... -KJ
Yeah, to remove it you will have to edit the shellstyle.dll http://www.askvg.com/how-to-make-folder-ba...-windows-vista/

Me neither. I guess we're just used to these kind of options with the apps we use.
Lee G. Veteran Posted December 25, 2008 Veteran Share Posted December 25, 2008 In case you need it, I uploaded the edited shellstyle.dll a couple of months ago. With this one, the toolbar is removed, rather than being auto-hidden. I've uploaded the edited shellstyle.dll, should you require it.http://localhostr.com/files/2e905a/nofolderband.rar
jere
In case you need it, I uploaded the edited shellstyle.dll a couple of months ago. With this one, the toolbar is removed, rather than being auto-hidden. thank you, but i am having trouble opening it with ResHacker. i have a question: what's the difference between the shellstyle.dll in the system32 folder and the one that usually comes with a msstyle? i applied a theme that had it's own shellstyle.dll and i had edit that file again to hide the toolbar... another question: how can i change the selected item color of this tree view? when it looses focus, the font turns black and that makes it difficult to read sometimes. changing "selected items" color in advanced appearance settings doesn't have effect. Lee G. Veteran Posted December 25, 2008 Veteran Share Posted December 25, 2008 The shellstyle.dll in the system32 folder is the one used for Windows Classic. I don't know how to change the colors of the tree view.
magnifier
I am also interested in solving this problem. I want to remove both the green-blue toolbar and also the row of columns directly underneath, which I find totally redundant in any view other than Details. I have tried the shellstyle.dll file posted above but this has had no effect. Any suggestions?
Gabotril
I want to remove (...) and also the row of columns directly underneath, which I find totally redundant in any view other than Details. Yeaah, I'm interested too in a fix for that. That row is the most annoying thing in Vista's UI after the shell explorer bar (that one with the Organize, View, etc. buttons).
