sanctified Veteran Posted December 24, 2008 Veteran Share Posted December 24, 2008 I decided to do a triple boot enviroment on my macbook pro and as a third OS I selected Xubuntu since I wanted to try XFCE (Minimalism is my posion). But its giving me some problems with some drivers and other things: The driver app gives me a choice to install either the 173 or the 177 version of the Nvidia drivers, but neither install with no error screen. The app just stays at 0%. Is there another easy way to install the drivers without any complex and obscure methods editing config files? I remember this app on ubuntu that with a few clicks installed mp3 support, dvd and drivers (doing all the configurations), there is anything similar for Xubuntu? There are any good dark theme for XFCE (Not window borders). So far XFCE Dusk is the nearest thing I have found, but it has many bugs (Black text over dark grey background in some instances) There are generic bluetooth drivers for Xubuntu? I heavily use my bluetooth mouse on my macbook pro but on xubuntu I have to use the trackpad, and that is the true meaning of hell since trackpad support is at beast lacking. sanctified Veteran Posted December 24, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted December 24, 2008 Another thing, my wireless is working but the signal is detected as very week, ergo my connection is slow. I know is not a hardware problem because on OS X the speeds are normal. Any ideas?
sanctified Veteran Posted December 24, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted December 24, 2008 Well, I resolved the Nvidia problem, but I still cant find a way to recognize my bluetooth mouse
markwolfe Veteran Posted December 25, 2008 Veteran Share Posted December 25, 2008 Dang. Just got back online. The nVidia should have detected and prompted you to install on first boot. Not sure if the Apple hardware is so different that it would cause problems. I wouldn't think so. Not sure about the Bluetooth, though, sorry. I don't have any BT devices. :(
